Christmas on
BY GREG HERN
Usborne Central
Detective Mooney they called
me because all I wanted to be
was a detective.
Christmas was coming and all
I wanted was, a trench coat,
detective badge, magnifying
glass and a Sherlook Holmes hat
and a pair of elevator moon
shoes.
This year at Moon Base it was
going to be different because I
would have to buy presents for
everyone in my family instead of
picking a name out of a hat and
buying a present.
J never did believe in Santa
Claus because when I was five
years old I did some detective
work in my mother's closet and
found a big bag of presents and
on Christmas morning I found all
the presents that where in the
bag beside my stocking.
Christmas Eve was going very
slowly because I was all alone in
our big house doing nothing.
I went to bed early Christmas
Eve and hoped for all the
presents that I put on my list!
It was four oclock in the
morning when I woke up and was
running down the stairs to see
what I got.
There was a big box addresed
to me and I started to rip and
tear off the wrapping paper and
Moon Base
opened the top. In it was all the
things I asked for on the list was
in the box plus a detectives hand
book.
All these things gave me a
boost in the detectives business
and soon led to my first case,
"The case of the stolen cheese."
Christmas

Christ's birthday
Happy time
Rejoice for the new King
In heaven angels sang
Shining star
Three wise men bring gifts
Mary, mother of Christ .
A journey to Bethlehem
Shepherds went to see Jesus.
Jesus was born on Christmas day
In a stable full of hay
On the day when Christ was born
Wise men rich, and shepherds
torn
All came to see
The baby born like you and me
Everyone wanted a look
Until the stable was filled to
every nook
On that glad and glorious day
When Jesus was born in a stable
of hay.
We hope you have a happy
0 holiday season and that you will
visit us again next year. We are
happy to serve you.

The first Christmas
BY VICKI PARSONS
Usborne Central
One day in Nazereth there
lived two people whose names
were Mary and Joseph. An angel
came and told Mary that she was
to have a baby. Two months later
a man named King Herod
wanted all the people in
Bethleham counted.
That meant that Mary and
Joseph had to go because
Bethleham was Joseph's home
town. Mary and Joseph got their
donkey to travel with. Mary rode
on the donkey and Joseph led it.
It was a long walk for Joseph but
at last they got there.
They went to the Inn but there
was no room, but the Innkeeper
was kind enough to offer his
stable. They went to the stable
Christmas Spirits

Through the years Christmas
has changed in its ways. There
are a lot of people who think of
Christmas as being a time to go
buy big expensive presents. They
are forgetting that it isn't the
present that counts, its the
thought behind giving it.
If everybody gets a good
thought about Christmas it will
make it a happy, time for a long
time. Santa Claus has been the
Christmas symbol for years and
let's hope he is beleived in.
There isn't an old man who
flies from house to house giving
presents but anyone who gives
presents and makes people
happy is like a Santa Clause.
So, remember, that Christmas
is not just a time to buy gifts. It
is a time to please or make other
people happy through gifts and
feelings.

Dear Santa,
Your reindeer have a cold.
Give them one tablespoon daily,
If they are better by Christmas
they may go out. Keep them
warm. I'll be back next month,
That's about it.

The Spirit of
Santa Claus
BY JACKIE BAPTIST

Who do you think of when I say
Christmas? So you think of jolly
elf with a white beard and one
who rides the world on
Christmas eve? I know I do,
Santa Claus has always been a
big part of Christmas in our
household, To ,young people
Santa Claus is the man I just
described but to me Santa is not
only a single man but everyone in
the world who gives a gift at
Christmastime Santa is also a
feeling of warmth and love for
manking.
He symbolizes love for chidren
and he loves them enough to give
them all toys. I know it sounds
corny but it's true.
Christmas is a very special
time for me because it makes me
pleasant. It's kind of like a spell
that comes over me about
December fifteenth and lasts
until the new year.
Friends visit and pals which
haven't been seen for a year
return. You can't help but feel
happy.
My advice to anyone who is
having a problem getting the
spirit is to go out and buy a
present for somebody and be a
Santa Claus yourself.
Rudolph's Log For
The Trip To Your
House
and a manger was already there.
Joseph went over to get some
fresh straw and put it in the
manger.
A few weeks later the baby
was born. Mary called him
"Jesus". The day that Jesus was
born a huge star rose in the sky.
Then an angel came down to tell
three wise men that Jesus was
born. The angel told them to
follow the star to Bethleham.
There they found Jesus. The
wise men gave Jesus Gold,
Frankincense, and Myrrh. King
Herod heard about Jesus's birth
and ordered him to be killed, All
the little baby boys under two
were to be killed. 'Two or three
years later King Herd died and
an angel came and said that it
was safe to go back to
Bethleham.
There they were safe and
Jesus began to grow. That is the
story of The First Christmas. We
have Christmas to celebrate
Jesus's Birthday. We give gifts
because Jesus got Gold,
Frankincense, and Myrrh. We
should give gifts too.
Why Snow?
BY DEBBIE LARKIN
Grade 5
Mt. Carmel School
The reason why we have snow, is
that each year, around
Christmas time, a little angel
is born. It is a big celebration.
Each baby angel gets to do one
thing that they want good or
bad.
All the little angels like to take a
star out of the sky and keep it.
Vnside each star is snow, and it
snows and snows, until all the
snow is gone from that star,
Sometimes we have a storm,
because there are many angels
born; or because the little
angel gets a little carried
away!
That's why it snows,

December 26, 1977 The elves
