The Christmas meeting of the
ClandebOye Women's Institute
was held at the home of Mrs.
Gerald Lynn Wednesday .af-
ternoon, The president, Mrs, Art
Hodgins opened the meeting with
the Institute Ode, The Mary
Stewart Collect and The Lords
Prayer. Mrs. Rupert Williams
read the Scripture. Nineteen
members and friends answered
the roll call, "What I would like
for Christmas".
During the business a donation
was given to the War Memorial
Childrens Hospital, London, also,
a basket of fruit is to be sent to
pan Hardy who is a patient in
University Hospital since
October, Mrs. Rupert Williams
reported on the arrangements
being made for the bus trip to the
flower show in Toronto March 8.
The Meeting was turned over to
Group 2 with leader, Mrs. Chas,
Coughlin in charge. Christmas
readings were given by Mrs. Roy
Cunningham, Mrs. Jack
Hodgson, Mrs. Wilmer Scott and
Mrs. Coughlin. A Christmas
contest was conducted by Mrs.
Alan Hill.
The guest speaker, Mrs, Keith
Brown, wife of Rev, Keith Brown,
minister of the Clandeboye-
Lucan United Churches. In her
message she spoke of the many
Christmas legends and why we
have Christmas and the giving of
gifts. She said that God's great
gift to us, "The Light of The
World."
Carol singing completed the
meeting. A gift exchange for all
present and gifts for the Cancer
baskets were donated. A lovely
lunch prepared and served by the
lunch committee, Mrs, R.
Worthington, Mrs. P.
Groenewegen and Mrs. Alan Hill
assisted the hostess.
St. James Anglican church
Sunday School presented their
Christmas program during the
service on Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Clarence Carter was in
charge. They opened the
program with a "Welcome"
poem. Other poems "Candles"
by Laurie St. Pierre and Jill
Cunningham and "Christmas
Gifts" by Lisa Carter.
"In the Star" was presented by
Jason Hodgins, Arthur Morgan,
Laurie St. Pierre, Gerald and Jill
Cunningham. Lisa and Laurie
sang "Light a Christmas Carol".
Peter Hodgins, Kenneth and
Patty Pescod also participated.
The girls senior choir ac-
companied by Mrs. Alan Hill
sang, "God Rest You Merry
Gentlemen", "We Three Kings"
and "I Heard the Bells on
Christmas Day", then led the
congregation in "Silent Night".
Glenda Cunningham gave the
"Christmas Benediction". Lunch
was served following the service
and a social time enjoyed by all.
Personals
Mr, & Mrs. Wilmer Scott at-
tended the Hardy, Christmas
dinner party hosted by Mrs.
Violet Hardy and held at the
Seven Dwarfs Sunday. After
dinner all returned to Mrs,
Hardy's home in Lucan to spend
the evening,
Andy Thompson returned home
from University hospital on
Sunday where he underwent
surgery last week.
Mr. & Mrs. Sam Taylor, Scott
and Mary, Swift Current,
Saskatchewan arrived Saturday
to spend Christmas holidays with
Mrs. Taylor's parents Mr. & Mrs.
Wilmer Scott and other relatives
in the community.
