Sunday morning, Lillian Ulens

for the second Sunday in Advent.
During the service it was
decided to renew the United
Church Observer for the families
of the congregation for another
year at a cost of $3.00 each.

open its first branch in Lucan on

Biddulph, officiating. Guido A.
Marini, vice-president and
general manager of Toronto
Dominion Bank's Ontario South-
west Division, will also be in

Mr. Andersen stated, "I look
forward to providing a strong
banking alternative in Lucan and
to serving the agricultural,
commercial and consumer
banking needs of Lucan
residents," Mr. Andersen has
had 14 years' banking experience
with Toronto Dominion and prior
to his new appointment was
assistant manager in the London
branch at Wharncliffe Road and
Oxford Street.
The° branch will open for
business on Thursday, December
15. Regular banking hours are
Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. and Friday, 10 a, m, to 6
p.m.
During the business session of
the Lucan Sunshine and Busy
Buddies groups Thursday af-
ternoon, in the Masonic Hall,
president Gordon Hotson thanked
Rheola Hotson for acting as
social convener during the month
of November and welcomed Dora
Thompson as the incoming
convener. Only one birthday was
celebrated during the past week
and congratulations were ex-
tended to Donna Hindmarsh,
Today, Thursday is a very
special meeting in that an im-
portant matter will be discussed
and a "closed" ballot will be
taken to decide the issue.
Lois Thompson presented a
reading "The Candy Customer of
Yesteryear" which brought back
many memories.
Phillip Lewis arrived at the
close of the meeting and issued
an invitation to all seniors to
attend an entertainment at the
Shillelagh commencing at 2 p.m.

doesn't know if your child will be
in attendance — Please
remember children up to the age
of eight years of members in good
standing are eligible. (Sorry no

December 23 we will be holding
our annual two for one night for
members and guests between the
hours of 5 p,tn. and 8 p,m. for
members and guests. This is

Wednesday found many of
Ailsa Craig's residents eating out
as McNair's restaurant held their
official grand opening.
The former McNair's grocery
and snack bar has been com-
pletely renovated with the
grocery area discontinued and
snack bar attractively
redecorated and enlarged to
accommodate persons.
Well known in the community,
both Doug and Elaine McNair
grew up and attended school in
the area, Born in McGillivray
Township Doug helped out in the
family restaurant in Ilderton
6 'oolCring the 1950's, In the early
1970'91 he opened his own
restaurant in Strathroy which he
sold a few years later and came
to Ailsa Craig in 1973 buying the
grocery and snack bar from the
Skinners.
A warm, friendly atmosphere
prevailed Wednesday as
hostesses including Elaine, in
long gowns served the customers.
Even three year-old Laurie
McNair was on hand in a long
dress to greet the customers
amid the glow of the restaurant's
• Christmasy setting. Earlier in
the week, Ruth Sheppard, of
Parkhill and aunt to Doug,

A Christmas party for the
children of Ailsa Craig will be
held Saturday, December 17, at 8
p.m. at the town hall. This is a
first time venture undertaken by
a couple of the village's citizens
who have made arrangements to
have St. Nick himself drop in on
the festivities. In addition a
ventriloquist, and "The Three
Musketeers" will be on hand to
entertain the youngsters,

interested in helping to provide
entertainment is asked to contact

on Jamaica
The November meeting of the
Evening U,C.W. was held in the
C.E. wing, The opening poem "I
am the Bible" was given by Mrs.
E. Melanson who will also be in
charge of the workshop for the
U.C.W. Christmas meeting and
pot luck supper, December 13.
The roll call was answered
regarding an item on Jamaica.
Mrs. K, Brown and Mrs. J,
Lockyer took charge of the study
on Jamaica and the Carribbean,
taking us back to when Columbus
landed and brought things to life
with a film strip called
"Jamaican Journey".
There were question and an-
swer periods and two group
discussions. Mrs. W. PrOats took
charge of the worship "Prepare
ye the way of the Lord".
During Advent a. Christian
prepares himself for the birth at
Christmas, Mrs. J, Mohr read the
story of the gift of St. Andrew and
Mrs. Fronts closed With a prayer.

is to learn, They played a game
using these names, and they took
