Skicade results
in helpful hints
Skiing enthusiasts from Exeter
Public School and South Huron
District High 'School had the
opportunity last week to catch up
on the newest in ski equipment
and techniques when Skicade
visited the South Huron Rec
Centre.
Skicade is a program offered
by the Ontario Ski Council with
assistance from Wintario and
private industry and is intended
to promote alpine and cross-
country skiing in Ontario.
Brian Gilpin and Bill Walker of
Skicade laid particular emphasis
on the proper fit of equipment
and the place of purchase, stating
that a pro shop is the best place to
buy ski gear.
The program which lasted two
hours included a demonstration
of cross-country skiing that took
place inside, on plastic snow.
Ralph Wareham, staff advisor
to the ski club at South Huron
called the program 'excellent'
and has rhade a request that
when SkiFade appears next year,
that it be latter in the year so as
to make use of the natural snow
fot demdnstrations.
Wells will soon
be in operation
The two new wells in Usborne
Township should be available for
Exeter PUC use within a week
according to manager Hugh
Davis.
He told the Commission at
Monday's meeting that the
equipment which had been
damaged in a fire at the Cudmore
site was being replaced,
The .damage to the equipment
has delayed the availability of the
wells.
Davis indicated that the
Morgan well could be pressed
into operation now if it was
needed due to major fire or
some other emergency.
