It appears the county is at-
tempting to reach salary
negotiations around the six per
cent guidelines set down by the
Anti-Inflation board. At Friday's
meeting in the county ehambers,
Go r' councillors saw
Several salary adjustments
proposed by the various com-
mittees, and endorsed them all.
The county planning depart-
ment received increases for two
planners of $1,118 each effective
January 1, 1976, One planner is
now at $19,786 and the other at
$10,616. A planning technician
received $728 per annum more,
bringing his salary to $12,740.
Two field workers with the
Social Services Committee
received six per cent increases -
one $780 per annum to $13,520 and
one $624 per annum to $11,232.
Non-union supervisory staff at
Huronview, including the
assistant administrator, the
recreation director, the food
supervisor, the nursing director,
the housekeeping supervisor, the
chief engineer, the stockkeeper
and all registered nurses
received an extra $32 hi-weekly,
an average increase of six per
cent.
Also at Iluronview, the
operating engineers got an in-

Only one injury reported
in six district collisions
Despite hazardous driving
conditions during the first winter
storm, the Exeter OPP report no
sizeable increase in the area
accident statistics this week.
There were six accidents, with
one injury being reported.
That injury was the result of a
two-car collision on Monday on
Highway 83 at Huron Road 11 in
Usborne Township. Drivers in-
volved were Oliver Edwards,
Stratford, and Lloyd Rowat,
Seaforth.

Stephen Townshiup, about 1.5 km
north of County Road 5. Damage

There were two accidents on
Saturday, the first involving
vehicles driven by Mary Dougall,
RR 3 Exeter, and George
Poor tinge, Hensel!. They collided
on Highway 4, 2.4 km north of
Exeter.
Constable Bill Lewis in-
vestigated and set total damage
at $2,100.
The other Saturday crash in-
volved vehicles driven by James
Boyce, RR 3 Bayfield, and
Donald Lamb, RR 4 Goderich.
The accident occurred on con-
cession 10-11 of Hay, North of
Highway 84,
Damage was listed at $500 by
Constable Straughan.
The other accidentof the week
occurred on Friday, when
vehicles driven by Maunel
Henriques, London, and Julian
Mantey, Exeter, collided on
Highway 4. Constable Christiaen
set damage at $200.
During the week, the local
detachment officers laid five
charges under the Highway
Traffic Act, six under the
Criminal Code and two under the
Liquor Licence Act,

technician was adopted at $8,320
to start; $8,502 after one year
with regular increases each year
to $10,322 after five years.
Non-union Secretariat staff
effective January 1, 1978 in group
1 go from $7,540 to $7,852
minimum and from $9,100 to
$9,464 maximum. There are five
groups for non-union secretarial
staff. Group V go from $9,554 to
$10,244 minimum and from
$11,414 to $11,882 maximum.
The salaries of the director of
nursing and the director of public
health inspection were also
adjusted. Each received a six per
cent increase bring the salary
from $18,018 per annum to $19,110
per annum each.
The salary adjustments for all
department heads are treated
separately from other staff but
jointly in a special report.

years.
The county weed inspector
received an increase of 20 cents
an hour to $5.10 effective January
1, 1978 and the tree com-
missioners are paid $4.95 per
hour with a $300 retainer going to
the chief tree commissioner,
Library staff received in-
creases too. The Children's
librarian received a 40 cent per
hour increase to $7.40; the
Goderich Branch Supervisor goes
from $9,802 per annum to $10,322
