CLANDEBOYE
The November meeting of the
Clandeboye Womens Institute
was held in the United church
Wednesday evening with 51
members and friends in at-
tendance. Mrs. Art Hodgins
presided.
After the regular opening
ceremonies, roll call and minutes
of the last meeting the guest
speaker was introduced as
"Farmer Bill" of Shipka, He
spoke on the growing and care of
house plants.
He brought with him many
large hanging plants as well as
small plants and cuttings which
he offered for sale. The Christ-
mas cactus seemed to be one of
'the most popular purchases,
The draw for the large hanging
pot of grape ivy was won by Mrs.
Barbara Carter. Mrs. Michael
Heffernan, convener of
Agriculture and Canadian
Industries thanked the guest
speaker, Lunch was served buffet
style and a most interesting
meeting completed.

Visiting with Mrs. Bruce Eaton
and family for three days, was
Father Bruno Btirbello from
Venice, Italy. He has been
working with the farmers in
Bangladesh for the past five
years in the area where Bruce
Eaton had dug wells for
irrigation purposes.
For the past six months Father
Bruno has been studying about
Agriculture Co-operatives at the
Coady International Institute in
Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
He will be spending Christmas
with his family in Venice before
N.C.T.

Euchre Party
Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Lightfoot and
Mr. & Mrs. Tom Kooy were in
charge of the euchre party in the
Community Centre Monday night
with 10 tables in play.
Prize winners were: ladies
high score, Mrs. Bill Lamport;
lone hands, Mrs. Joe Carter; low,
Mrs, 011ie Ostland; men's high
score, Percy Noels; lone hands,
Chas. Rollings; low, Harold
Tripp.
Mr. & Mrs. Frank Hicks and
Mr. & Mrs. Bob Blair will con-
vene the next party.

Mrs. W. Baker, Grand Bend is
a visitor this week at the home of
Mr. & Mrs. Wilfred Huxtable.
Stephen Molnar of Agincourt
was a weekend visitor with his
parents, Mr. & Mrs, S. Molnar.
Mr. & Mrs. Bill Hirtzel and
family, Exeter and Mr. & Mrs.
Karl Keller and Tracy, London
were Sunday.visitors with Mr. &
Mrs. Lawrence Hirtzel.
Mr. & Mrs. Wm. R. Essery,
Rob and Ruth Ann were visitors
for a few days with Mrs. Essery's
sister Miss Arlene Newcombe in
Drayton Plains, Michigan.
United Church Women
Centralia United Church
Women held the November
meeting in the church parlours
with Mrs, Alvin Lobb president
opening the business portion with
a reading on "Remembrance".
Reports were heard and ap-
proved.
$50.00 was voted to send the
Ontario handicapped skiers
association London Branch
(Roberts School).
A successful bingo party at
Braemore Lodge was held with
four U,C.W. ladies present to
assist with cards and prizes.
Each member is asked to bring a
friend to the Christmas meeting
and everyone is welcome.
Dolls are to be brought in at
this meeting. Mrs. Iva Blair and
Mrs, Aldeen Skinner were in
charge of devotions and opened
with everyone reciting "In
Flanders Fields". The hymn
"Faith of our Fathers" was sung
by all. Mrs. Blair led in prayer.
Mrs. Skinner read the scripture
on Mary. The hymn "Lead on 0
King Eternal" was sung. Both
ladies shared the study on Mary,
Mother of Our Lord. "Stand up
for Jesus" was sung and all
repeated the Mizpah Benedic-
tion.

Chelmsford near Sudbury where
they visited Mrs. Groenewegen's
sister and brother-in-law Mr, &
Mrs. George Quecke and family,
also her brothers, Mr. & Mrs.
Andy Vis and family at ValCaron
and Mr, & Mrs. John Vis and
family at Warren. They report
there was no snow at all north of
Orangeville and the driving was
excellent,
Jeff McComb, Elginfield spent
the weekend with his grand-
parents Mr. & Mrs. Rupert
Williams.
The Clandeboye UCW catered
to the Legion Remembrance Day
dinner held at the Legion in
Lucan, Friday evening.
Tony Markus spent a few days
in Mississippi last week.
