Kinettes schedule
December outing
Activities of the Hensall and
District Kinettes were discussed
at their November meeting held
at the home of Ms. Linda Soldan,
Wednesday.
These included planning for a
Christmas Party for the children
in December and working on a
quilt which it is hoped will be
completed over the winter
season. All members and two
visitors were present at this
meeting and for the December
meeting on December 14 a visit to
the Country Spire is planned and
then meeting later at the home of
Ms. Pat Brown in Exeter.
Remembrance is
theme of meeting
Remembrance was the theme
running through the November
meeting of unit two of the Hensall
United Church, held on Monday.
The meeting was chaired by Mrs.
Joyce Pepper who read several
short poems.
The devotional, led by Miss
Mary Goodwin dwelt on the joys
of remembrance. Joyce read an
article sent by Mrs. Irene Black-
well on the life of Dr. John
McCrae who wrote, "In Flanders
Field".
For the study, Mrs. Helen
MacLean took the life of Florence
Nightingale and her selfless
devotion during the Crimean
War. The size of the sacrifice we
are willing to make shows the
depth of our love for God. When
the .pioneers were Settling in
Virginia, all had to work so many
hours every day; this was the
rule of John Smith. All great lives
are the result of hard, diligent
work, We are all stewards of our
talents.
During the business, ushers
were chosen for the general
meeting on December 5 and
arrangements were made to
decorate the Sanctuary for the
Advent season and to hold the
birthday party at the Blue Water
Rest Home. After the Mizpah
benediction, a contest was en-
joyed and the hostesses, Mrs.
Grace Drummond and Mrs.
Mona Alderdice served a
delicious lunch.

the architectural firm of David C.
Stevens and Associates of London
to prepare draft plans for the
construction of a new fire hall to
be located behind the present
building off Queens street,
According to clerk-treasurer
Betty Oke, the present facilities
for the works department are
inadequate and the construction
of a new fire hall would allow for
more room for the works
department.
Once a draft plan is approved
by council, tenders will be called.

1978, said Oke. •

looking to expend between $50,000
