CANADIAN ADVERTISING ADVISORY BOARD A Despite playing short-handed due to injuries, school com- mitments and suspensions, the Exeter Hawks maintained their position atop their division of the Western Junior "D" loop this week with a pair of victories. They doubled the score 10-5 on Bothwell in their first trip to the newest league entry on Wed- nesday and then came home to post a 5-2 triumph over Tavistock, Friday," The Hawks face three big tests this week, including a visit to the other division leaders in Belmont last night. However, their own division leadership will be on the line at the rec centre on Friday when they host the Lucan Irish, The Irish have a couple of games in hand on the Hawks and the defending champions will be out to avenge a loss to Lucan in the grand opening tilt at the rec centre. On Sunday night, Tavistock will be back for another meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the rec centre, In Wednesday's 10-5 win over Bothwell, the Hawks suited up two midget players, Dave Bogart and Brian Mercer, to fill up their thin ranks. Mercer responded to the challenge by scoring a pair of goals, Also adding a pair each were Jamie Caldwell and Matt Muller, Single 'goals were potted by Kim McKinnon, Randy Parsons, Fred Mommersteeg and Jim Ferguson. Phil Knight and Jamie Cald- well were the top play-makers in the contest with three assists each, Matt Muller and Randy Parsons helped out on a pair while being credited with one each were Jim Ferguson, Kim McKinnon, Dave Bogart, Fred Mommersteeg and Dave Kin- sman. Exeter out-shot Bothwell by a margin of 33-29 with Randy Lovie posting the win in the Hawks net. Exeter led throughout the contest after opening up a 3-0 first period margin, Only nine minor penalties were called in the contest. Rough Battle Friday night's contest with Tavistock was a hard-hitting affair throughout, and two fights broke out in the latter stages. Randy Parsons and Ron Bilcke were sidelined by the hard-hitting in the early part of the game, and after three players were sent to the dressing room in the final five minutes, the Hawks had only nine skaters left. Brion Penhale and Steve Jennison each 'drew 'five-minute fighting majors and Phil Knight was handed a misconduct for failing to go to the players' bench during one of the altercations, In the scoring department, only one goal resulted from a power play, it being the eventual winner in the second period.
