E. SL.11\01MERS GRANTON At the United Church Rev. Elwood Morden was in charge of the morning worship and it being Reformation Sunday, used as the theme for Ms sermon "The Keys of the Kingdom". Some of the keys that have been placed in our hand are (1) Fellowship with one another, (2) Understanding, use this key and ,you will find w great and won- derful world, said Rev, Morden, (3) the key to Love, love is the golden chain of all virtues, if you love God, you will not hurt your neighbor, and if you love your neighbor, you will not steal, (4) the key to Responsibility, we are free to choose our own respon- sibilities. Mary Mills conducted the morning service Sunday ,and officiated at the Sacrament of Baptism, when Scot Adam James son of Mr. & Mrs. James Hodgins and Kayleen Warrington, niece of Mr. & Mrs. Donald Roloson were baptized, In her Meditation Rev. Mills explained what Baptism meant to the congregation saying par- ticipation, and the Death and Resurrection of Christ, is the central meaning of the Sacrament of Baptism, and to denounce evil and keep God's Commandments all the days of our lives. Mrs, John Harlton soloist, gave a beautiful rendering of Jesus loves me, Confirmation gifts were presented to Dani Roloson and John and Betty Ann Herbert by their Sunday School teacher Mrs. Richard Acres. Sunday School pupils receiving attendance pins from Mrs, Don Beatson's class, were Kenny and Sylvia Beatson, Charlene and Paul Acres, Kayleen Warrington, Jeremy Noon, and Jamie. Hoar. Best attendance awards for this class went to Kayleen Warrington and Kenny Beatson; for Mrs. Acres class, Susan Noon and John and Betty Ann Herbert received pins, and best at- tendance awards went to John and Betty Ann Herbert. 4 H News The eighth meeting of the "Cereal Bowls" 4H club "the Cereal Shelf" took place at the home of leader Mrs. Fred Cook Wednesday evening. This meeting followed a pot luck supper. The girls brought the food for the meal, and nearly all the dishes were mentioned in the members pamphlet, After ' supper the members worked on the exhibit for Achievement Day, which was entitled "Featuring Week" after a break, they listened to Bonnie Ilarleff tell about her trip to Europe this summer. The girls really enjoyed hearing about Bonnie's travels in Germany and Holland. Cathy Cocquyt who will talk about the exhibit on Achievement Day practiced by giving an ac- count of what she will say on that day which takes place at the Centennial School, Arva Saturday November 12. Anne Marie Nixon was secretary and press reporter for this last meeting of the club. Contact Fern Mardlin 225- 2667, Recreation Association News The Granton Community Recreation Association election of officers took place at the Scout Hall Thursday evening when the following officers were elected: chairman, Ron Rose; co- chairman, Roy Penman; secretary, Lorna Ellyatt; treasurer, Herman Landsink; sub-committee chairman, Jeanie Jones. Hallowe'en Dance Those who attended the Hallowe'en Dance sponsored by the G,C,R.A. and held at the Masonic Hall, had a good time Saturday night, Music for dan- cing was provided by a disc jockey. Mrs. Larry Ketlaars won the prize for the best dressed lady and Larry Ready for the best dressed man, while the prize for the couple went to Mr. & Mrs. Ron Rose. Happy Gang Meet The Happy Gang met at the United Church Wednesday af- ternoon with Mrs. Harold Westman presiding. Mrs, Westman conducted "'a quiz on lotteries, The remainder of the afternoon was spent in recreation. The lunch committee was Mrs, C.B. Westman and Mrs. Alec Crockett. Members with bir- thdays in October and having their names on the cake were Sadie and Austin Hobbs, Aleatha Dunlop and Daisy Gregory. C.G.I.T. News Members of the C.G.I.T, en- joyed a Hallowe'en party at their meeting Monday evening at the United Church with games, apple dunking, etc. Granton 4-H Club Finishes The Granton "Cereal Bowls" 4- H club has completed their meetings and have spent a night working on their exhibit. Everyone brought a different dish to the final work meeting which was also a dinner meeting. Leaders for this club, Mrs. Robert Garrett and Mrs. Fred Cook received a gift of ap- preciation from the girls. Miss Bonnie Harloff gave a talk on her visit to Germany and showed her souvenirs. The girls all agreed that it was an interesting and fun club and are looking forward to Achievement Day November 12, Personals Sympathy is extended to the family of late Harold C. Westman Who passed away suddenly at his home at RR 3, Granton in his 76th year. Mr. & Mrs. Cecil Jermyn of Inwood called on Mr.& Mrs. Austin Hobbs, Saturday evening. Mrs, Joseph Bryan and Mrs. Florence Bremner, London were noon dinner guests of Mrs, Kenneth Hodgins and Mrs. Lois Herbert, Tuesday. Sympathy is extended to the family of the late William McComb who passed away in St. RECEIVES BA — Reginald Finkbeiner, Crediton received his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Western Ontario, Saturday. He is the son of Mr, and Mrs. Lorne Finkbeiner, Crediton and on the teaching staff of Exeter Public School. Joseph's Hospital October 24 in. his 82nd year, Miss Marion Herbert was a guest Friday and Saturday of her friend. Miss Judy Bailey, Ilder- ton. Kevin Wallis was honoured with a smorgasbord dinner at the Shillelagh Sunday by his family. The occasion was Kevin's 21st birthday. Quests present were Mr. & Mrs. Don Wallis, Linda and Faith of Belmont, Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Wallis of Sarnia, Miss Brenda Wallis and Mr. Terry Millar of London, Miss Edna Wallis Granton, Mr. & Mrs. Jarman of Strathroy, and Kevin's parents Mr. & Mrs. Emerson Wallis. Mr. & Mrs. Bain, Trenton spent the weekend with their son and his family Mr. & Mrs. Ron Bain. Miss Edna Wallis spent last week with Mr. & Mrs.Don Wallis and family, Belmont. Mr. & Mrs. Austin Hobbs were guests at a family dinner at the home of their granddaughter and her husband and daughter Mr. & Mrs. Carl Jone and Kim Sunday evening. This was in honour of Mrs. Hobbs 77th birthday. Mrs. Al Cocquyt, Mrs. Robert Harloff and Mrs, Elmer Sum- mers attended the Annual meeting of the Middlesex Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society held in a the- London Life Building Thursday evening. Hurondale 4-H complete project The final meeting of the Hurondale VIII 4-H club was held October 25 at the home of Mrs, Mathers. The girls practiced the skit for Achievement Day and decided to have a last practice November 21 at Kathy Haines' house. Brenda Murray brought a kiwi fruit and a pomegranate which was sampled during the meeting and a fondue party was enjoyed. Joanne DeHaan brought "Chocolate Sauce" and Kim McBride brought "Caramel Sauce".
