the choke operation checked.
Ws usually wasteful to put

helpful, though, in a high-

Proper home insulation heat
conservation will save you money.
What are some of the ways to cut your
heating costs? What types of insulation
are on the market? How should you
choose an insulation contractor? What
does "R-value" mean? What is a vapor
barrier?
Those are just a few of the important
questions you'll find answered in free
publications now available from the
Ontario Ministry of Consumer and
Commercial Relations and the Ontario
Ministry of Energy.
The two ministries are cooperating to
inform Ontario residents about how
proper home insulation can help offset
increasing energy costs, and to point out
other ways of conserving energy.
Facts about insulation are included
in the Ministry of Consumer and
Commercial Relations' interesting
bulletin "Insulation: Heat in Your House,
Money in Your Pocket." It covers such
matters atthtee rs as:
meaning of R,value and vapor
barrier
• proper ventilation
• types of insulation material
• how to check your home for existing
insulation
• finding a reliable contractor
• information to help you understand
the customer-installer contract
• how to 'check the completed job
Fora free copy of the bulletin, write to:

Other ideas on how to save energy and
money are included in the Ministry of
Energy's booklet "Energy Conservation:
The Choice is Yours." Among the
money-saving suggestions:
• lowering daytime and night-time
temperatures
• installing storm doors and windows
• replacing air filters on warm air heating
systems once a month
• closing window drapes on winter
nights

hold the lead until the fourth
period when the locals went
ahead 21-20 at one point.
The winning touchdown for
Goderich came late in the game
when they punted from the South
Huron 35 yard line and were able
to recover the ball when it was
fumbled in the SH end zone.
The first Panther major score
came in the second period when
Rick Lindenfield completed a
five yard sweep around the end
and Doug Hoffman booted the
convert and the score was 13-7.
The Vikings were able to score
again to take a 20-7 half-time
lead,
The Panthers marched 50
yards on seven plays in the third
quarter and hit pay dirt as Rick
,Lindenfield again swept around
the, end, this time for 25 yards,
Early in the fourth period, it
took the ,Panthers nine plays
from scrimmage to chalk up the
third touchdown of the afternoon.
Again, it was Rick Lindenfield
carrying the ball into the
Goderich end zone.
t Paul Brooks hit Paul Ilies with
a pass good for the two ppint
convert and the Panthers were
ahead 21-10,
In the next series, a Goderich
drive was apparently stopped but
the winning touchdown came on
the fumbled punt.
The Vikings edged the Pan-
thers 341 yards to 298 yards in
total yardage although South
Huron gained the most first
downs 14 to 11.
Rick Lindenfield was the top
South Huron junior rusher with
104 yards in 21 carries while
Larry Dawson was close behind
with 93 yards in 19 attempts.
In the passing department
Doug Brooks hit on three of seven
tries good for 49 yards and Steve
Pearce was successful on his only
pass to Joe Becker for 25 yards:
Doug Hoffman led the South
Huron defensive unit with nine
key tackles. Joe Becker was in on
seven big stops and Allan Geiser
and Steve Sararas each hit on six
and Dave Bell and Ed Hunter-
Duvar were in on five key
tackles.
In specials Ed Hunter-Duvar
and Jeff Fuller each blocked one
Goderich convert attempt, Greg
PrOut recovered a fumble and
Steve Sararas recovered two
fumbles. Doug Brooks was able
to sack the opposing quer-
terirfck.
Player of the game awards
went to Rick Lindenfield and
Paul Bies on offence and Doug
Hoffman and 'Ed Hunter-IDuvar
for their defensive efforts.
Coach Ron Bogart blamed the
lack of breaks and an offence
which could gain only 44 yards on
the ground for Thursday's 21-0
loss to Goderich.
Bogart continued, "With Only
three first downs in the whole
game it's pretty hard to win I
can't remember for a long time
when we have been shut out and
haven't gained more than 100
yards rushing,"
In referring to the lack of
breaks, Bogart commented,
"but, we didn't create any for
ourselves, either."
The pattern for the Panthers
started on the first play of the
game. Jeff O'Brien took the
opening Goderich kickoff back
for 47 yards but only had one
more man to beat to go all the
way.
In the second 'period, Rick
Skinner of South Huron blocked
and recovered a Goderich punt
and returned the ball 20 yards
only to be tripped up by the last
man in his way.
The score was 7-0 at half-time
as the result of a Goderich touch-
down on an 85 yard run as their
back was able to get outside the
Panther defence.
The second major score for the
Vikings came early in the third
period on a 20 yard forward pass
from a fake field goal attempt.
An interception in the fourth
quarter set up the third and final
Goderich touchdown.
Brad Cann and' Larry Regier
each picked up 20 yards rushing
for the Panthers and Brian
Mercer added four yards.
In the passing department,
Dave Bogart was successful on
six of 15 attempts. Brian Mercer
nabbed three aerials for a total of
24 yards, Steve Beer caught two
for 12 yards and Sean Walden
caught a short three yarder.
Goderich controlled the plays
from scrimmage with 61 com-
pared to 47 for the Panthers,
Brad Taylor led the Panthers
on defence with 11 key tackles
while Rob Pryde scored nine and
Rick Skinner seven big stops.
Brian Mercer was named the
South Huron offensive player of
the game while defensive
honours were shared by Rick
Skinner and Jeff O'Brien.
