Senior Citizens
In the absence of the president,
Charles Martene was chairman
for the October meeting of Dash-
wood senior citizens.
The new USCO flag was
displayed, Martene gave a report
on the rally at Brussels, The
1978 spring rally will be held in
Exeter,Euchre was played with
Mrs, Lloyd Rader winning high
for the ladies' and Mrs. Reinhold
Miller, low, high man was Mrs.
Pearl Miller and she also had the
most lone hands.
4-H meeting
Meeting five for club 2 Dash-
wood 4-H was held October 19 at
Mrs. Earl Keller's home. Mrs.
Ray Rader discussed pastry
making while Teresa Van Raay
and Barbara Rader made pies.
The girls read their fruit
summary and the pies were
served for lunch.

New phone book
is coming soon
Ontario's official flower the
trillium is one of nine of this
province's picturesque wild
flowers featured on the cover of
the new London and surrounding
area telephone book.
Delivery of the directory was
scheduled to start about October
24 and finish by November 9, Jim
Scott, local Bell Canada
manager, said today.
Some 219,195 directories will be
distributed this year - an increase
of nearly 11,000 from last year's
total,
Bell is adhering to its policy
instituted a few years ago of
delivering only one directory per
household,
"In 1977 we'll save about 29,000
books with this policy," Mr. Scott
said. "It cuts down on costs, helps
conserve natural resources such
as pulpwood and reduces paper
pollution .

Kippen East Women's Institute
held their Canadian Industries
meeting at the home of.Mrs. Wm.
J.F. Bell October 19. Mrs. Robert
Kinsman gave the motto, "Go
often to the home of a friend or
neighbour for weeds choke an
unused path" and concluded with
a poem "My Neighbour", ,
The roll call was, "Name a
simple invention". A silent sale of
homemade articles was con-
ducted by Mrs. Bell and realized
about $15. Mrs. Charles Eyre
gave current events, Mrs, Al
Hoggarth, the president, gave an
interesting poem, "The World
Fair Farmer".
Courtesy Remarks were given
by Mrs, Charles Eyre, the lunch
committee was Mrs. John Sin-
clair and Mrs. Wm. McDowell.
An invitation to meet with
Hurondale was accepted. Mrs.
Grace Drummond gave the
report of the Rally. Mrs. Al
Hoggarth read Mrs. Connolly's
report of the Area Convention,
also a report of the Workshop.
