A nasty accident occurred on.
Tuesday, October 1$ on the
McGregor farms, RR 2, Kippen,
when cousins Robert, son of Mr.
& Mrs. Grant McGregor and
Steven, son of Mr. & Mrs. Jim
McGregor collided head on on
their motor bikes. Although it
was dusk, neither boy had his
lights on at the time and they did
not see each other until it was too
late. Steve received severe
lacerations to his face, a broken
arm and broken femur. Robert
also had. head injuries and a
broken arm. It was estimated
that it was about half-an-hour
before the boys were found and
taken to Exeter Hospital from
where they were transferred to
University Hospital, London.
Latest word is that both boys
are progressing. Robert is doing
well and is up in a wheelchair;
Fruit, the day round,was the
topic of discussion for the fourth
meeting of Hensall 1 club, the
Apple Dumpling Gang, at the
home of Sharon Hoffman
Tuesday. Fruit can be used as a
source of Vitamin C at breakfast,
or a salad along with dinner; also
it can be used in a meat dish or
for dessert. Raw fruit makes a
very good snack for watching
television. Due to the shortness of
the meeting all cooking was left
for the next week.
The fifth meeting of the Apple
Dumpling Gang, Hensall 1, was
held at the home of Diane Ger-
stenkorn with eight girls an-
swering the roll call. Making pies
was the topic of discussion.
Sharon Hoffman made apple
pie from scratch while Diane
Gerstenkorn made an apple pie
from a mix and canned pie filling.
The girls tasted both .pies and
made a comparison. Oriental
Chicken and a fruit salad were
also made and enjoyed by the
girls.
Steve is improving steadily
although still in serious condition,
At the churches
The service at Hensall United
Church on Sunday, was con-
ducted by Rev. Don Beck who
took as his theme, "There's
something missing". Speaking
about church members he spoke
on conversion as a change in the
inner spirit. That change is
missing in religion today. The
choir, under the leadership of
Mrs. John Turkheim, sang the
anthem, "The Master hath called
us". Next Sunday, the service
will be on standard time at 11 am.
Rev.Young,Goderich conducted
service in Carmel Presbyterian
Church Sunday. There will be no
service next Sunday October 30
owing to anniversary service in
Caven Presbyterian Church,
The Hensall two 411 club met on
Tuesday: at Joyce Pepper's
house for their fifth meeting.
They discussed pastry making
and how to roll pastry. Then they
talked about the different fillings
for a two crust pie and one crust
pie. They made two applie pies -
one was made from all purpose
flour and the other from pastry
flour. The last one was the
flakier. Members were presented
with their fruit topics for
Achievement Day.
On Wednesday at 7 pm, the
Hensall three 4H club, the Horn of
Plenty, held their fifth meeting at
Janet Bilcke's house with all
eight girls present. The
discussion for the night was about
pastry. This included pastry
rolling, a pastry recipe and a two
crust and one crust pie. Betty
Beer and Janet demonstrated
two types of apple pie - one kind
was with canned apples and a
mix for the crust and the other
was homemade.

The plaque, uniquely Canadian
in design and materials, was

Two district youths
injured in collision
Have you ever really been
aware of the strange and won-
derful powers that lie hidden in
the songs we hum and sing and
play?
This is the type of introduction
in store for all spectators at the
November 6 musicale being
presented at the Hensall United
Church on Sunday, November 6.
Providing the special musical
entertainment will be the Brant
Men of Song and the Brant Belle
'A' Dears,
The combined choirs under the
direction of Gary Woodward are
composed of 70 non-professional
singers from all walks of life, In
providing a community service
they strive to maintain a high
standard of, performance.
Members devote many hours in
rehearsal for the joy and
fellowhip of singing.
Music director Gary Woodward
is organist and choir director at
Marlboro United Church and a
secondary school teacher
In July, 1976, the choirs flew to
Britain on a three week goodwill
concert tour of England, Scotland
and Wales. They are presently
active supporting Brantford's
Centennial celebrations and are
raising $25,000 for a Canada West
tour in the summer of 1978.
Year by year, from generation
to generation for more than a
century popular songs have kept
alive the memories of the past.
"They're playing our song" is a
recognition of the marvelous
musical treasure house which
has been building decade upon
decade and which still continues
to accumulpte today.
The Brant singers will be
presenting many nostalgic
memories of musical magic
which will bring smiles to the
Hensall audience, November 6.
