During the week officers of the OPP Lucan Detachment in- vestigated a total of 43 oc- currences and four accidents. Six acts of wilful damage were reported during the week with damages totalling $675, Acts include a mailbox knocked over on Concession 8, London town- ship, value $25.00, grass ripped up by a vehicle on the lawn of Centennial School, Arva, value $100, several cars scratched by persons unknown at Wright Auto Sales, Lucan, value $400, a window broken in the pavilion at Weldon Park, Arva, value $40 and a hole shot in a window of an apartment on Butler St., Lucan, value $100. In the last occurrence a window in the main door at the Butler St., apartment building was damaged by what appears to be a pellet gun. This is an expensive door with a replacement cost of Three mishaps occur in area Three accidents were in- vestigated this week by officers of the Lucan detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police in addition to the fatality at Whalens Corners which appears on the front page of this issue. Saturday at 12,10 a.m. on the Denfield sideroad, a quarter mile south of Concession 14 in London township a vehicle driven by Russell Leneve, RR 2, Ilderton left the road and struck a hydro pole. Constable J. A. Wilson set damages at $1,400. Constable W. T. Hodgins listed damages at $400 Saturday night at 6 p.m. when a vehicle driven by Mirdza Gulens, Dashwood was forced off Highway 4, north of Lucan by an unknown vehicle. Constable J. A. Wilson is continuing investigation of an incident early Sunday morning on the Shillelagh parking lot in Lucan when a vehicle backed into a fence doing some damage. The vehicle was abandoned. Grain Gourmets learn about cereal The fifth meeting of the Lucan Grain Gourmets took place at Tammy McRobert's house Thursday. At this /fleeting the girls discussed the colour for the books, and decided on red. The design will be done by Mary Lou Tindall. They talked about the ver-. • satility of cereals and the dif- ferent types of pastas. Jane Straatman made tomato meat sauce and Christine Geersten made lasagna. The next meeting will be held at Annette Straatman Thursday, the glass set at $100. Constable G. J. Barker reports that it is a Criminal offence to have a firearm off your own property unless you'relfollowing the regulations governing hun- ting or are a member of a recognized gun club travelling to or from a shoot, There is also a by-law in Lucan prohibiting the discharge of a firearm. The lagoon in Lucan has also been posted "No hunting" and' "No trespassing". Charges will be laid against anyone found in the area. Other occurrences include 26 general calls, one noisy party complaint, one theft involving $70, two break-ins involving $332.50, two assist other Police Departments, one fraud, two domestic disputes and one assault. Sunday October 9, it was reported to the detachment that several headstones had been toppled and damaged at the St. Johns Cemetery, Arva, Some valuable leads were received from the public on this and as a result charges will be laid against several London youths, Const. W. R. Disher is investigating. With president Gordon Hotson in the chair, the Lucan senior citizens club members decided to hold a Christmas party and to ask the program committee to come up with ideas at the next meeting, this afternoon Thursday. Mr, Hotson invited more members and friends to join the bowling group each Tuesday at 111. He also called Mrs. Hotson to give the final report on the club sponsored Stanley Brush pqrty, which was held on October 4. Total sales amounted to just over $500 resulting in $105 being added to the building fund. Congratulations and best wishes were offered to all those who had celebrated their 'bir- thdays during July, August, September and to date in October, too many to mention here. Mrs. M.H. Hodgins read a humorous poem entitled "Maggie & Jiggs at the Golden Gate". The Busy Buddies continued Courtship is the period during which a girl decides whether or not she can do better: their Ceramics Creations with Rose Bakker & Elsie Kraft. Lunch was provided by Mrs, Kenneth Carter, Mrs. Jack Darling, Mrs. Rupert Williams and Mr. Earl Dixon. The Sunshine group enjoyed euchre with prizes being won as follows: lady's high, Mrs. Wilfred Dixon; lady's lone, Mrs, Luther Morley; lady's low, Mrs. William Thompson; man's high, Cecil Robb; man's lone, Stuart Munro, and man's low, Lon Phillips.
