were on the Fettes Bus colour
tour in Pennsylvania State to
Watkins Glenn and Grand
Canyon. Both enjoyed the trip.
Rev. & Mrs. Getz were guests
with Mr. & Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan,
also calling on friends.
Dr. V. Gulens is confined to St.
Joseph's hospital, London.
Mrs. Ken McCrae underwent
surgery in St. Joseph's hospital,
London, Monday.
Mrs. Irvin Rader attended a
seminar and dinner at Clinton,
Friday, for rural correspondents -
as arranged by the Bluewater
Regional newspaper network. A
tour of Goderich Signal-Star was
included.
Hilda Rader, Helen Grieves,

Florence Keller, Bev Keller and
Beulah Desjardine were on a
Fettes tour to Corning N.Y.
where they toured a corning
factory, Grand Canyon in Penn-
sylvania; Finger Lakes where
they cruised one, Watkins Glen,
where they saw the highest
waterfall and home by, way of
Niagara Falls, The scenery was
beyond description,
Mr. & Mrs. Irvin Rader were
Sunday guests with Mr. & Mrs.
Wendell Gamble, London.
Special 125th anniversary
services were held at Calvary
United church, Sunday. A former
minister, Rev. J. H. Getz,
Pembroke, was the guest speaker
at both the morning and evening

Twenty-two members and their
guests were present for the an-
nual fowl supper prepared and
served by group 1 with Mrs.
Lorne Becker convener. Five
plates were sent out.
President Mrs. Lorne Genttner
conducted a brief business
meeting. The Altar Guild
reported 18 visits and two plants.
The new Guild is Mrs. Howard
Da tars and Mrs. Louella Tieman.
Games and fellowship followed.

Beierling and Everett Haist,
members of Dashwood Senior
Citizens, attended the Zone 8
Rally at Brussels, Wednesday,
October 12.

The fall rally for the Stratford
zone Lutheran Laymen's League
was held at Barea-by-the-lake
Lutheran church, Goderich,
Sunday, October 16 with almost
100 in attendance. The theme was
"Lift up your voice". John
Schenbein, Toronto, guest
speaker, spoke on the work of the
league,
Pastor Gil McDonald, Strat-
ford, installed the new officers.

The Church in Society com-
mittee was in charge of a
thankoffering meeting of Calvary
United cnurch UCW October 11.
Mrs. Gerald Mason read the
scripture followed by a prayer of
thanksgiving by Mrs. Mervyn
Tieman, chairlady. Mrs. Syd
Baker and Mrs. Greta Schade
presented a skit, Sharing with the
thankoffering boxes, Mrs. Mason
and Mrs. Jack Gaiser sang a
duet, Song of . Thanksgiving.

Saturday afternoon at the home
of Mrs. George Vivian,
Eleven girls answered the roll
call which was to observe a
person and tell your impressions
formed,
Mrs. Vivian lead a discussion
on clothing communications
including impressions formed
and self concept. Mrs, Jeffery
then explained how to prepare a
blouse for fitting,
Mrs. Vivian outlined the
purpose of facings and how to
apply them to your garment. A
variety of seam finishes were
then demonstrated, Colleen
Melady and Carolyn O'Reilley
demonstrated the plain seam
finishes, using the zigzag and
pinking,
Pauline Jordan demonstrated.
the flatfelled seam and Marlene
O'Reilley demonstrated the
french seam.,
