WILLIAM ROHDE Mr, $ Mrs. Dave Millar, Mr, Robert Turnbull, Mrs. Isabelle Cann, Exeter, Mr. & Mrs, Reg Hodgert attended a surprise birthday party for Mrs, Jannie Turnbull, Aylmer on Sunday at Cornell Hall near Tillsonburg. There were 75 guests for supper. All Mrs. Turnbull's 11 children and some of their families were present. It was Mrs. Turnbull's 80th birthday which was October 7. Mrs, Cann is a sister of Mrs. Turnbull's, Persona Is Mrs. Lloyd Ballantyne, Mrs. James Benton, Mrs. Donald Bray, Mrs. Ray Cann, Mrs. Mac Hodgert, Mrs, Ross Hodgert, Mrs. Hazel Jeffery, Mrs, John Fym, Mrs. William Rohde, Mrs. Glen Stewart were on the Hurondale Institute bus trip Wednesday to Milton where we toured the Agricultural Ontario Museum. There will be no Sunday School Sunday October 16 owing to the anniversary, The two South Huron District High School football teams kept their undefeated records intact Thursday as they swept a doubleheader against Listowel. The South Huron seniors chalked up their second straight victory with a 25-0 romp while the juniors won by a score of 6-1 to up their season victory total to three games. This week, both clubs are expected to face stronger op- position as Stratford Nor- thwestern will be in Exeter for two games. The senior game begins at 1.30 p.m. with the junior contest slated to get underway at 3 p.m. Long run early The only touchdown in the junior game early in the first quarter as Panther backfielder Larry Dawson broke loose on a 100 yard gallop off tackle to chalk up a six pointer. Dawson was the top ball carrier for his club, gaining 140 yards in nine carries. Rick Lindenfield was next with 62 yards on 11 attempts. The only 'successful South Huron passing play was from quarterback Doug Brooks to Steve Pearce good for eight yards. The complete South Huron yardage gained totalled 245 yards while the defence held Listowel to 178 yards. Listowel did pick up the most first downs 11 to seven. Coach Doug Ellison said his team turned in a "poor game offensively" but listed three members of the team as being very strong defensively: More thati 90 at seniors The Exeter senior citizens met Tuesday for their monthly session at the Legion Hall with over 90 members present. They enjoyed cards for the first part of the evening and were then en- tertained by a variety of per- formers. A group of senior citizens from Dashwood and Grand Bend en- tertained in their usual jovial way. They included Mr. and Mrs. Ross Love, Mr, and Mrs. Willis Gill, Mr, and Mrs, Wellwood Gill and Mr. and Mrs, Doug Gill. Mrs. R. Love acted as chairperson. Mrs. Bailey and Mrs. Arm- strong looked after the program, which also featured solos by Miss Brodie, accompanied by Mrs. Oke, and several humorous readings by Mrs. Graham. Mr. and Mrs. Penhale, Maleeta Schenk, Mr. and Mrs. W. Westlake and Mrs. Irene Thompson were table conveners for lunch, They were Doug Hoffman with 14 key tackles, Jeff Fuller with 13, Greg Prout with nine and Ed Hunter-Duvar with six big stops. Panther senior coach Ron Bogart called his club's win over Listowel, Thursday, "a much improved effort." Bogart continued, "the score could have been doubled if we had not made so many errors. Our defence played well showing much improvement in the secondary. The offence appears' to be gaining more confidence." The senior scoring was well spread with at least three points on the board for the Panthers in each quarter, Brad Cann led the Panther scoring attack with three touch- downs. He chalked up the first six points in the first quarter on a 10 yard run and scored again in the second period on a similar gallop, this time good for nine yards. Steve Beer was good on both convert attempts and the score was 14-0 for South Huron at half- time. The only scoring of the third quarter came on a 25 yard field goal booted by Steve Beer. Brad Cann on a four yard run scored the final SH major in the fourth period. This time the convert was good for two points Beavers, Beavers, Beavers, Sharing, Sharing, Sharing - What is this you say? CANADIAN ADVERTISING ADVISORY BOARD as Rick Skinner hauled in a- pass from Dave Bogart. Brad Cann was the top Panther ground gainer with an even 100 yards in 18 cracks at the opposing line. Jeff O'Brien was good for 39 yards on seven tries and Larry Regier gained 29 yards on six attempts, Panther quarterback Dave Bogart was successful on seven of 12 passing attempts. He hit Brian Mercer with three tosses, Sean Walden grabbed two passes and Steve Beer and John Byrne each hauled in one pass. Jeff O'Brien and Rob Pryde were responsible for intercepting two Listowel passes. The Panthers gained a total of 328 yards. Of this total 211 came on the ground, 57 through the air and 60 because of penalties assessed against Listowel. Listowel could pick up only 132 yards against the South Huron defensive unit and almost half of this, 65 yards came on penalties. Brad Taylor led the SH defensive line with 10 key tackles. Next came Dave Campbell with seven stops and Mike Brintnell was in on four key tackles, Brad Cann was named the offensive star of the game for the Panthers and defensive honours went to Rick Skinner. there is enough interest shown, Hopefully the colony will start in January, but before that can happen we must hear from you. Final registration for minor hockey The Exeter Minor Hockey Association will hold its final registration next Saturday, October 22 at the South Huron Rec Centre. At the same time, an equip- ment exchange will be held. People wishing to donate hockey equipment or offer it for sale are asked to have their items at the rec centre by 10:00 a.m. People donating equipment may call 235-0159 and the items will be picked up. All items of equipment are being sought, but particularly for younger players just starting out. The choir sang an anthem and singing in a men's quartet were Messrs. Doug Gill, Bob Heywood, Sam Skinner and Bob Blair with Mrs. Gill at the piano. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers, fruits, vegetables and colourful autumn leaves, Mr. & Mrs. Fred Bowden ac- companied by Mrs. Russell Schroeder and Mrs. Elmer Wilson, Exeter were on a colour tour of the Muskoka area for a couple of days, last week. Mr. & Mrs. Earl Dixon recently attended a "Meet the Newlyweds" party for Mr. & Mrs, Wm. Leckie held in the Crystal ballroom of the Walper Hotel in Kitchener. The groom is a nephew of Mr. Dixon.
