"Pis the season for pumpkin
and here is a dessert recipe that
is more than just empty calories.
Crustless Pumpkin Pie is
nutritious, The combination of
protein-rich eggs, pumpkin which
is high in vitamin A, and milk and
honey make for a dessert that is
good for you as well as tasting
good. Each slice contains 7
grams of protein -one-sixth the
daily protein requirement for an
average size female adult. This
delicious dessert can turn a light
soup and salad supper into a
complete, nutritious meal,
This pie is not only nutritious,
but is perfect for those who have
difficulty' making a crust, those
counting calories and those who
don't have much time to bake. It
can be made two or three days
ahead of when you plan to serve
it, if kept refrigerated.
Because there is no crust, the
number of calories is halved.
Each slice contains only 174

E4lE A BLOOD DONOR)
Exeter is to have another op.,
portunity of hearing in person one
of the world's outstanding
missionary-humanitarians when
Mrs. Lillian Dickson speaks at
the Exeter United Church,
Friday, October 21, at 7:45.
She is being brought hereby the
local Christian Women's Club,
the same group that sponsored
her two years ago.
At that time people of the
surrounding communities
flocked to hear her speak to an
over capacity crowd in Caven
Presbyterian Church.
Because of the vast numbers of
people who know about her work.
and who want to hear her,
Christian Women's Club are
pleased to be able to use the
United Church because of its
larger auditorium.
This little woman has become a
living legend in our time, the
personification of pluck and
perseverance against heavy
odds, the undaunted heroine in
many an encounter with the
elements on dangerous mountain
trails, with hostile tribal chiefs
among former head-hunters in
Formosan fastnesses, with
corrupt officials, with sickness,
poverty and ignorance.
Here is a woman who--
practically single-handed--has
taken on monumental tasks and,
with the help of an "angel at her
shoulder" has established in
Taiwan an organization of
nationals as dedicated as herself
in bringing to the people not only
the saving gospel of Christ, but
His personified love for the weak,
the fallen, the distressed.
Moved by compassion for the
multitudes around her when she
was only "a missionary-wife"
she began a quarter-century ago
to rescue boys out of prison,
lepers from suicidal depression,
mountaineers dying from
tuberculosis, girls about to be
sold into prostitution.
A work so small, so non-
descript, probably merited the
name she gave it: The Mustard
Seed Mission, — but today it has
grown far beyond thought or
expectation, with sixty projects
working at full speed in
Preaching, medical work,
hospitals, clinics, prison-
visitation, schools and or-
phanages, etc.
Mrs. Dickson will be warmly
welcomed by many in our area
