ROLL-ON DEODORANT Secret 1,5 oz, Granton Church women are busy CLANDEBOYF St. James Anglican Church had a visitor on the weekend; that is, an unwelcome one. When the sp custodian, Mrs. Lucy Pescod opened the church Saturday to attend to her duties, she found a basement window broken and a man sleeping behind the kitchen counter. She hurriedly drove to the home of Joe Cunningham, a member of the church, as well as an Inspector on the London City Police Force. Joe escorted the unwelcome visitor to the O.P.P. office in Lucan. While in the church he hooked up a small electric heater to get warm and consumed all of the Communion wine as well as making use of the kitchen to make tea, He was 'a young man in his twenties and gave his address as "The Mission" in London. INSTITUTE BUS TRIP The Clandeboye Women's Institute sponsored a bus trip to the Niagara area Thursday. Leaving Clandeboye by 8,15 am with Peter McNaughton at the controls, we arrived at Niagara- on-the-Lake by noon, where we had a delicious meal prepared by the U.C.W. of Grace United Church. Following the meal the bus toured around the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, while one of the church ladies acted as tour guide. She pointed out the historic sites, famous old buildings, 0, several churches and old home?; that have been restored and told us something of their history. We also saw the Shaw Festival Theatre. After the tour of the town we left the bus for a few minutes to see through a few of the many little shops. The Old Apothecary was closed for the season so had to settle for a glimpse through the windows. Our next stop was in Queenston where we had a guided tour of the Laura Secord Homestead, The house is restored to the period of 1803-35 and is a Memorial to the heroine who lived there, Laura Secord, by an act of bravery and courage, became the heroine of the war of 1812. While in Queenston we also saw Brock's Monument and the Floral Clock, then on to see the famous Niagara Falls. Peter McNaughton, an efficient and interesting tour guide, as well, as an excellent driver, pointed out many places and things of in- terest, (too numerous to men- tion,) as we drove along. On the way home we stopped at "The Ponderosa Steak House" at Brantford for our supper and arrived in Clandeboye at 9,30 pm. All agreed it was one of the best bus trips they had ever been on. Mrs, Chas. Coughlin, convener of Education and Cultural Activities was in charge of the trip.
