The Sacrament of Holy
COmmunion was administered at
the morning service in the United
Church Sunday Appropriate
anthems rendered by the Jr. &
Sr, choirs; the message "Serving
the Invisible" given by the Rev.
Harley Moore and the symbolic
arrangement of the floral con-
tributions, collectively provided
for a very inspirational service,
The Sunday School teachers
and members of the Christian
Education committee met
Thursday evening and drew up a
program for the following year.
An award system was in-
traduced, geared to promoting a
more positive interest in Bible
Study and regular attendance.
Mrs. Morley Hodgins was
hostess, Tuesday evening for a
miscellaneous shower attended
by friends and relatives of Anna
Hodgins, whose marriage will be
observed this Saturday to Grant
Langford, in Woodstock,
Mr. & Mrs, Harold Dettloff,
Detroit, were Saturday visitors
with Mr. & Mrs. R.S. English and
other friends here.
Sunday visitors with his aunt &
uncle, Evelyn and Manuel Curts,
was Donald Stoyle, and his
fiancee, Enola Lehman, Ottawa,
bridal couple of next month.
Mrs. Mildred Atkinson,
Nobleton, was a Friday visitor
with her parents, Mr, & Mrs.
Clare Reid. Mrs. Reid is con-
valescing, following hospital
surgery.
Mr. & Mrs, Milton Pollock
visited with Mr. Sr Mrs. Ross
Pollock, Ridgetown, Monday.
By the way: Mr. & Mrs, Herb
Piper, the new store owners here,
moved into their living-quarters
Saturday. That evening a gen-
tleman came into the store to get
something for his wife. "And
what are you asking for her?"
inquired Herb, Editor's com-
ment: It would appear business
is picking up.

Hodgins were delegates to the
London Area Women's Institute
annual convention, held at the
Sandpiper Inn, Vanes tra,
Wednesday and Thursday.
The Theme of the convention
was "Coming Together is a
Beginning; Working Together is
Progress".
Highlights of the banquet held
Wednesday evening were the
cutting of the 80th anniversary
cake by Mrs, Arthur Rundle, of
Exeter. Presentation of the
Maryn Pardy Memorial
Scholarship Winners. The guest
speaker, Jack Riddell, M.P.P.,
Huron-Middlesex, and en-
tertainment by the Bradley
Family singers.
4H CLUB MEETS
Clandeboye 4-H Club No. 2 held
their second and third meetings
at the home of their leader, Mrs.
Ralph Lynn. The roll calls: My
record of cereal and bread eaten
for one day and my list of cereal
products with which I am
familiar, was answered by all
seven members.
Discussion included the parts
of the wheat kernel and how
different cereals are used. The
girls made dogwoods, onion rice,
nuts and bolts, and cherry bran
squares.

catered to the McCann-Hardy
wedding dinner, held at the
Lucan Community Centre,
Saturday.
Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs.
Thos, Gilmour who celebrated
their golden wedding an-
niversary, Saturday.
Mr. & Mrs. Fred Smith have
taken up residence in the former
Derbyshire property. Mr. & Mrs.
Bill Bengough have moved to
Hens all,
Mr, & Mrs. Stephen Carter
have moved to the school-house
apartment to replace Mr. & Mrs,
Peter Laenen who have moved to
Stratford.
Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Morgan who
were living in the Steeper home
on the 4th of McGillivray have
taken up residence in the Clan-
Lan apartments.

PASHWOOD
All the teams of the Dashwood
slow pitch league gathered for a
banquet and dance at Dashwood
community centre, Friday.
The champion team was Butler
construction who received a
trophy. Runner up was Den-
nomme construction. Special
awards went to the following
Wilmer Desjardine, a cane for
the oldest player; Robbie Wein,
glue, so he wouldn't drop the ball
so often; Bill Chandler, sun
glasses, so he could see the ball
better; Jim Becker, an old shirt
for the one who looked least like a
ball player; Hubert Miller, band
aids, for the One who slid the
most; Ray Webb, Rolaids, for the
one who got upset most.
Committees were nominated
for 1978. Ladies, Jean Ford, Mary
Anne Bender, Ruth Denomme
and Marg Butler. Men, Dave
Rats, Ken Rader, Paul Watson
and Bill Becker,
The evening was rounded out
with dancing to -Mozart's Melody
Makers, During the evening Jim
Becker appeared wearing his
sweater, bathing suit, cowboy
boots, hat and carrying a paddle
and football and challenged
anyone to play ball.
Becker reunion
The annual reunion;of the late
William Becker family was held
Saturday, October 1 at the Dash-
wood Community Centre with 55
members present from Toronto,
Waterloo, New Hamburg,
Hamilton, Orangeville, Stayner,
London, Stratford, Seaforth,
Ailsa Craig, Crediton and Dash-
wood. A very enjoyable time was
had by all, The 1978 reunion will
be held at the same place,
Saturday, September 9.

4-H meetings
Dashwood Club 2 held their
third and fourth meetings Sep-
tember 27 and October 3. At the
third meeting the girls divided
into four groups and made
raspberry bavarian cream,
peach layer cake and fruit sauce.
Group 3 did the dishes.
Mrs. Earl Keller discussed
frozen fruits and canned fruits
Mrs. Ray Rader discussed dried
fruits.
At the fourth meeting with 17
girls present discussion was on
"How to make my record book
helpful permanent reference".
The leaders discussed fruit the
day round The girls made
Oriental chicken and fruit and
carrot salad.

Mr. & Mrs. George Fulcher,
Toronto, spent the weekend with
Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Genttner,
Sunday. they all attended the
dedication of the sanctuary lamp
installed at Ailsa Craig
Presbyterian church in memory
of the Lockhart family. Also in
attendance were Mr. & Mrs. Don
Genttner and Mr. & Mrs. Hen
Genttner, Todd and Terry.
