Sunday morning with Rev. Percy
Brown of Kirkton United Church
as, guest preacher.

Sisson, Strathroy, Mrs. Jas.
Kirkland and Mrs. George Davis,
Exeter.
Mrs. T. Elliott returned home
from a holiday with Rev. and Mrs
Hopkin Bowmanville. The
Hopkins spent the week-end with
Mrs. Elliott.
Mrs. Norman Harding, Ford-
wich visited Thursday with Mrs.
Clarence Switzer.
Ewart Crago accompanied by
Fred Cowdrey, Lucan went by
bus to the plowing match last
Wednesday at Kingston.

bridesmaid and best man of 45
years ago. Mrs. H. A. Mullins
(Doris) London, and Mr. Alvin
Carroll, London. Other guests
were Mr. & Mrs. Cliff Abbott,
Lucan and Mr. N.A. Mullins,
Later in the evening about 100
friends and relatives joined the
family for a very pleasant
evening. The family presented
their parents with gold watches.
They received many useful and
beautiful gifts.
Harry expressed his ap-
preciation in a few well chosen
words and Eileen thanked
everyone who had joined to make
such a happy occasion.
Many relatives and friends
from this community attended
the 50th wedding ,anniversary
"Open House" at the "Senior
Citizens Hall" in London Sunday
afternoon for Mr. & Mrs. Gordon
,Davis. They were formerly of this
'community and attended St.
Patrick's Church before they
moved to London,
Mrs. Raymond Greenlee,
Exeter and Mrs. Earl Greenlee
attended the golden wedding
anniversary open house for their
cousins Mr. & Mrs. Elmer
Walker at Ailsa Craig, Saturday.
Mr. & Mrs. Howard Clarke,
Shipka were dinner guests
Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Bob
Tindall.
Mr. & Mrs. Earl Greenlee
observed their 29th wedding
anniversary, Sunday and they
took Earl's mother Mr. Raymond
Greenlee and Mr. & Mrs. Heber
Davis out for dinner Sunday
evening.

end with her father Cecil

few days last week 'with Bill,
Kathy and Scott Prest.
Mr. & Mrs. Garnet Trevithick
visited Thursday with Mr. & Mrs.
Jack Trevithick.
Mrs. George Prest entertained
a few ladies to a Sarah Coventry
party recently.

Mrs. Russell Worden and Mrs.
Carter Kerslake were hostesses
for the Resolutions meeting of the
Staffa Women's Institute held in
the township hall on Tuesday
evening September 27.
Mrs. Charles Douglas presided
and after opening with the
Institute Ode and Mary Stewart
Collect read a humorous account
of a open letter to a dress
manufacturer. During business
members were reminded of the
area convention, the fall rally
and the officers banquet.
A invitation to attend the Safety
councils' talent show in Upper
Thames School on October 14 was
read and a invitation to meet with
the Seaforth Women's Institute
on October 11 was accepted.
Members were reminded that
Institute signs could be pur-
chased from Mrs. Barry Mahon.
Mrs. Russell Worden presided
for the program which took the
form of a round table discussion
on Resolutions - how to draft one
at branch level, etc. and a review
of our hand books.
Thirteen members answered

Mrs. Carter Kerslake gave
current events. Mrs. Charles

questions of current interest
which provoked interesting
discussions. Mrs. Orpha Norris

Ten ladies from Staffa
Women's Institute attended the
area convention at Vanastra last
week.
Mrs. Alvin Barbour is a patient
in Victoria Hospital, London,
Mrs. Bruce Eaton, is home
again after a lengthly stay in St,
Joseph Hospital, London.
Rev. Daynard celebrated
"Holy Communion" Sunday at
Hibbert United Church. Joining
by certificate were Mr. & Mrs.
Bill Mahon from Milton, Mr, &
Mrs. Bill Kerslake, Seaforth and
Mrs, Ken Pullman, Thamesview.
Mrs, Hazel Sadler, Sault St.
Marie visited with Mr. & Mrs.
Clifton Miller and Paul, They all,
along with Mrs, Lorene Hamilton
and Mr. & Mrs. Bill Worden were
guests at the Cornish - Hughes
wedding in London, Saturday.
Mr. & Mrs, John Templeman
visited Sunday evening with Mr.
& Mrs. Bob McDonald and boys,
Exeter.
Rain halts
motocross
Heavy rain took its toll this past
weekend causing a postponement
of Buffy's motocross at Hully
Gully.
This marks only the second
time in the five years of
motocross racing that the
promoters at Hully Gully have
been forced to postpone an event.
The rescheduled date will be
this Thanksgiving Sunday
October 9 at 12:00 noon with a full
race card as well as the one hour
(25 lap) endurance race and a
special pee wee division for the
eight to eleven year olds.
Steven Harst, Brodhagen was a
weekend visitor of Robert Norris.
Ray Balkwell is a patient in
Seaforth Community Hospital.
Mr. & Mrs. Jack Burleigh and
Joan, Goderich visited Sunday
with Mr. & Mrs. Bob Norris and
family.
Mr. & Mrs. Rob Templeman
