Staffa 4-H Club meets,
fabrics demonstrated

The second meeting of Staffa
No. 1 Sew N Sews was held
Monday evening at the home of
Mrs. Spencer Jeffery.
The meeting opened with the
4H Pledge and secretary's
report. The roll call, a uitable
style attractive to me and outline
the line in the garment, was
answered by all members,
Mrs. Vivian discussed colour in
clothing, including topics of hue,
value arid intensity charac-
teristics. Mrs. Jeffery then ex-
plained what fabrics were
suitable for the blouses. She also
talked about notion selection,
Marion Smale discussed the
advance preparations of the
fabric and why pre-shrinking is
important.
Meeting three of the Staffa No.
1 Sew N Sews was held Saturday
afternoon at the home of Mrs.
George Vivian.
Following the 411 Pledge and
secretary's report the roll call
was answered by 10 members,

basic colour. Mrs. Vivian
discussed housecleaning our
wardrobe, taking inventory of
what clothes are wearable.
Mary Jane Templeman
demonstrated pinning on the
pattern and cutting .out the fabric
while Mrs. Jeffery explained how
to, make any necessary
alterations, The girls divided into
groups to cut out their fabric,
after which the meeting was
adjourned.
Thamesview, Cromarty and
Chistlehurst Ladies were guests
of Hibbert United Church Ladies
on Wednesday evening in the
Family Life Center at Staffa.
Mrs, Elmer Dow presided and
devotions were taken by Mrs.
'Arthur Kemp and Mrs. Harold
Pethick using the theme
"Today". Mrs. Ross Smale
favoured with a solo.
The highlight of the evening
was a journey by picture and
commentary by Mrs. Robin
Daynard telling about many
eastern countries which she and
Robin had travelled through.
Mrs. Ron Christie delighted
everyone with two solos, one
being her own composition.
Following the meeting a social
hour was enjoyed by all.
Miss Jill Norris spent the
weekend with Miss Joan
Burleigh, Goderich.
Mr. & Mrs. John Botterill,
London visited Saturday with
Misses Ethel, Laura and Roy
Balkwell.
Mr, & Mrs. Hap Swatridge and
Jill, Wingham visited Friday
evening with Mr. & Mrs. Rob
Templeman.
Mr, & Mrs. John Burleigh and
Joan, Goderich visited Sunday
with Mrs. Sam Norris and Mr, &
Mrs. Bob Norris and famlly.
Mrs. Ralph Miller and Mr.
Gordon Miller Detroit, Michigan,
visited recently with Mr. & Mrs.
Russell'Miller.

Under the authority of The Ontario Heritage Act, R.S.O. 1974
Part IV, Set, 29, Council of the Town of Exeter, wishes to designate
the sttucture known as the Town Hall, 322 Main Street, being part of
Lots' 137 and 1311, Plan 20, Town of Exeter, more particularly
described as the building situated thereon and the surrounding area
of land, being 6 feet to the north east and south and westerly to the
street line, as a Heritage Building — so that it may be restored to its
original condition.
NOTICE Of OBJECTION to the above designation must be served to
the Clerk within 30 days of September 15th, 1977, setting out the
reasons for the objection and all relevant facts.
If no Notice of Objection is served within the 30 day period the
Council shall pass a By-law designating the property and cause a
copy of the Bplaw together with the reasons for the designation to
be roistered against the property affected in the proper land
registry office, and Publish a Notice of such Bylaw in a newspaper
having general circulation in the Municipality.
