TICKETS NOW ON SALE
Promotion Sunday was held
Sunday morning at the United
Church. Rev. H. Moore's sermon
topic was "Good Intentions", and
choir anthem was "The voice of
the Lord is soft and clear".
The Sunday School children
were in attendance for the first
part of the service when diplomas
and seals were handed out to the
children and special awards of
Bibles were awarded to Glenn
DuHe, Patti Love and Heather
Love.
Next Sunday, September 25, the
50th anniversary Celebration
Service No. 2, will be held with
speaker Rev. Harold Dobson.
Ladies object
to TV show
TheC.W.L.held their September
meeting with 22 attending,
Monday night at the Alhambra
hall. President, Ann Grootjen,
presided. Three members plan to
attend a deanery meeting to be
held in Sarnia October 51
The president thanked the
group who supplied flowers for
the alter during the summer. It
was decided to help the Arthritis
society in Parkhill with donations
of vegetables.
The rest of time was spent
viewing-in part- a program
recently seen on C.T.V. "Soap".
It was unanimously decided to
register an objection by letter to
the station and sponsors as to its
anti-Christian content. •
Travelling prize was donated
by Val Burke and won by Jean
Phillips. Group F were in charge
of refreshments. Next meeting
October 17 with Group A in
charge.
Conduct funeral
for Mrs. Moore
Funeral service was held ,
Tuesday September 13, for Mrs.
Ilah Pearl Moore of Brooke
Township. Survived by her
husband, Russell Moore of
Inwood, a daughter Mrs. Sheryl
Turck, of California, and two step
sons, Rev. Harley Moore, Grand
Bend, and Wayne Moore, Inwood,
a sister Mrs. Velma Geiger,
Michigan, a brother Hugh
Goutham, Florida, 7 grand-
children and 3 great grand-
children.
Service was held at the Black
funeral home, Alvinston with
interment in Alvinston Cemetery.

two nieces from Garden City
Michigan, visited recently with
their aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs.
Vernon Schatz in Dashwood and
also called to visit Mr. & Mrs.
Oscar Miller.
Mr. & Mrs. Tony Regier,
Christopher and Heather of
Detroit spent the weekend at
their cottage here and visited
Saturday with her parents Mr. &
Mrs. Ken Baker Sr.
Mr. & Mrs. Bill Finkbeiner,
attended her brother's wedding,
Ftiday evening at United Church
in Dashwood, when Robert
England and Elaine Foran were
married. Nancy and Bill were in
the wedding party as bridesmaid
and usher. •
Mr. & Mrs. Sid Purie and Glenn
enjoyed an hour's aerial view of
Huron County, Saturday, with
their son Dennis as pilot.
Mrs, Ferman Snyder and Mrs.
Harold Vincent, attended a
Tupperware party, Friday
evening at the home of Mrs,
Janet Desjardine. Over 30 were
in attendance and proceeds were
to go to the Women's missionary
society of Church of God.

Grand Bend council passed a
resolution Monday night which
will effect their neighbouring
municipalities,
Council will be asking the
Ontario Ministry of the
Environment to force townships
to provide garbage collection
services for their ratepayers,
especially in built-up areas.
The subject was brought up
when councillors noted residents
in areas outside the Grand Bend
village limits were placing their
garbage in, Grand Bend collection
barrels.
Continuing on the garbage
subject, councillor Bill Baird told
council that the summer pickup
schedule would be concluded
Friday, October 7 and the once a
week collections will begin the
following week.
Acting in response to a request
from the Grand Bend branch of
the Royal Canadian Legion,
council approved a grant to that
organization. The Legion will
receive a grant of $255,02 which is
the amount of 1977 taxes for
municipal services plus the
garbage collection fee. The
Legion was represented by Bob
Chapdelaine.

The quote from Frink of
Canada in the amount of $2,736
for snowplow equipment was
accepted by council.
After receiving a letter from
the Exeter law firm of Raymond
and MacLean asking for the
closure of a road allowance,
council wishes to ascertain that
all costs will be borne by the
owners concerned.
Reeve Bob Sharen said three of
the five property owners reside
within the Grand Bend village
limits. The road allowance in
question is located near
Lakeshore Drive in Southcott
Pines.
Council will be voicing their
objection to a land severance
application from Marjorie
Harley for three lots in Plan 3.
The request asked three existing
lots be changed to two buildable
lots.
The council objection which
will be forwarded to the Lambton
Land Division Committee will be
based on the fact one of the lots
will be smaller than the
minimum allowed.
Council gave final approval to
establishment of a Planning
Board for the village. Grand
Bend will be represented by
councillors Harold Green and
Keith Crawford. Named from a
number of applications were Don
Flear, Gerald Merner, Frank
Humer and Bob Clay.
A request from the London
Humane Society asking to be
considered for animal control
was filed.
The letter said the society was
recently completely reorganized
and now was a "new young,
dynamic team".

investigated
One accident was investigated
by the Pinery OPP detachment
this week.
It occurred on Tuesday in
Grand Bend and involved
vehicles driven by Joan Albert-
son, Grand Bend, and Howell
Peterson, Montreal.
There were no injuries and
damage was estimated at $150 by
Constable F. S. Hubert.
During the week the Pinery
officers laid 30 chargesunder the
Highway Traffic Act, one under
the Narcotics Control Act, and
eight under the Liquor Licence
Act.
There were two break and
enters reported and one theft.
Two drivers were charged for
driving while under suspension.
Teacher named
to council post
Keith Crawford, a Grand Bend
resident for the past five years
was sworn in as a village coun-
cillor Monday night.
Crawford fills the vacancy
created with the recent
resignation of Bill Uniac because
of an employment transfer.
The new councillor is in his
second year on the teaching staff
at South Huron District High
School in Exeter. He teaches la \v,
marketing and history.
He operated the Village Sandal
Shop for four summers and is
presently in the cottage rental
business with his father.
The Youth Fellowship group of
Church of God met Saturday
evening with 15 in attendance, In
the social time they played
games in the school gym, and
later met in the church with Rev,
J. Campbell for devotions and
lunch,
Sunday visitors with Rev. &
Mrs. John Campbell, Laura Lee
and Douglas were her parents
Mr. & Mrs. Louie Walker of
Pontiac, Michigan, who were
celebrating their 51st wedding
anniversary and his parents Mr.
& Mrs. A. Douglas Campbell of
Westfield, near Blyth.
Rev. J, Campbell attended a
Provincial committee meeting,
Monday and Tuesday in Kit-
chener.
Recent visitors with Mrs. Susie
Devine were a niece and nephew,
Mr. & Mrs. George Conklin of
Durand, Michigan, and also Mrs.
Loretta Williams of Port Huron.
Mrs. Devine accompanied by
Mr. & Mrs. Elgin Adams visited
recently in Port Huron with their
cousin Mrs. Marie Tetreau.
Diane Holt was honoured with a
bridal shower last Sunday, at her
father's home, when the
hostesses were her sisters Mrs.
Alma Riddoch, of Sarnia, and her
daughters Louise and Cathy, and
Debbie Holt. This was for aunts
and cousins on Diane's mother's
side of family.
Congratulations to Jim and
Marg Love on their 25th wedding
anniversary, Their family
consisting of Ginger, Mrs, Bill
Weber of Dashwood area,
Debbie, Mrs. Wayne Riddell, St,
Thomas, John and Patti Love.
Over 40 attended a family
dinner in Dashwood Community
hall followed by a dance recep-
tion with music by Desjartline's
orchestra,
The dinner and dance were
arranged and planned by their
family, Pat and Elgin Hendrick
hosted a dinner party in Jim and
Marg's honour, at the Pinery Inn,
Saturday evening for 20 family
members.
Garnet Statton, Reece's Cor-
ners, who was visiting friends in
Grand Bend, called one day to
visit Mrs. Mae Holt and Beulah,
He was an old school chum of
Beulah and her sister Enid.
Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Johnson
spent a few days last week in Port
Elgin and Southampton visiting
their daughters and families. Mr.
& Mrs, Duncan McVittie, Robin
and Lawrence, Mr. & Mrs. Don
McArthur, Kevin and Karen.

An agreement has been
completed with officials of South-
cott Pines Park Limited,and the
subdivision's association for an
improved lighting system.
Five existing light standards
will be replaced and three new
ones erected. The two Southcott
groups will pay the difference
between the village requirements
of $141 per light and the type they
desire.
