Clipperton told council members
Tuesday night that profits from
the bath house, parking and
docking operations should be up
slightly from 1976.
, She reported bath house
receipts to date at $2,644 with
expenditures not totalled as yet.
The parking lot on the beach
brought in $6,297 with costs set at
$1,200 and dockage fees received
were $3,472 with expenditures of
$1,400.
At the same time Mrs. Clip-
perton reported a marked im-
provement in the unpaid taxes
situation. She said at the moment
$17,050 was owing for 1976 or
prior taxes. The unpaid amount
at the end of 1976 was $60,902.
" She added, "It looks now as if
10 properties could be up for tax
registration in 1977."
All council members reported
hearing good comments on the
beach patrol and cleanliness of

The first fall meeting of the
afternoon unit of the Grand Bend
U.C. W. was held Thursday af-
ternoon in the Sunday School
rooms of the United Church. Roll
Call was answered by members
by telling an "interesting place to
visit." President, Eleanor Durie
opened with Bible verses from
Micah 6th chapter, verses 6 to 8.
Several upcoming events were
announced including a Steward-
ship meeting to be held at Mit-
chell, October 1, and the Huron
Perth Presbytery meeting at
Centralia 9:30 a ,m. to 3 p.m. The
Ecumenical to be hosted by the
U.C.W. and a birthday party at
the Blue Water Rest home early
in October.
It was announced that the
summer bake sale realized a
profit of $180.
A story on Brazil was read,
about how the rich get richer, and
the poor get poorer. A sugar
loading mechanization machine
made 2,340, unemployed as it
required only 8 men to operate.
A Bible quiz contest was
conducted by Eleanor Durie.
A September story was read by
Annie Morenz and Harvestime in
Bavaria was read by Elaine
Moore.
Plans were made to entertain
the Baby band members and
mothers at the October meeting.
Roll Call for October is to bring
vammiwap
an article for the Childrens Aid
layette.
Meeting closed with an Autumn
Prayer, Lunch hostesses were
Mrs. Olive Baker and Mrs. Olive
Webb.
Couples meet
The Couples Club of Grand
Bend held their first fall meeting,
Saturday evening at the home of
Morley and Millie Desjardine,
and after all assembled went for
d hayride on the country roads.
Following this was a sing-song
led by Marie McKinnon on her
guitar. A worship service was
conducted by Harley and Elaine

The next meeting will be held
October 1,
In charge of this meeting were
Ralph and Marie McKinnon,
Harley and Elaine Moore and
Morley and Millie Desjardine.
Anniversary
A Family Life Seminar was
held Friday and Saturday at the
Church of God, conducted by
Rev. E. Woolner, Royal Oak,
Michigan.
He was also guest speaker at
the Church of God's 28th an-
niversary Sunday. Morning topic
was on "The Family,"and p,m.
topic, "The Church", with the
main thoughts being of com-
munication through love.
Visitors were present from
London, St, Catharines and Blyth.

The Grand Bend United
Peewees ended their South-
western Ontario League season
on a winning note last Sunday
when the' recorded a 4-1 away
victory over Sarnia Cabot Car-
bon.
Nick Vandenberk led the Bend
attack with two well taken goals,
while Tony Gibbings and George
Kerr added single scores. Most
valuable player of the game was
Grand Bend's goalkeeper Rick
Helm.
This win, was all Grand Bend
needed lake the runner-up
position in the final League
standings
The local peewees will close off
a very successful season with an
exhibition game that is being
arranged for Grand Bend Sep-
tember 24, then on October 1, the
Bend squad will face the powerful
Sarnia Nationals in the 1977 $.W.
