Hunting regulations at
• .usual outlets, issuers
The 1977 summary of Ontario
hunting regulations can now be
picked up at the usual outlets -
Sporting Pods stores, licence
issuers and Ministry of Natural
Resources offices, Natural
Resources Minister Frank S.
Miller said this week,
There are no changes from 1076
in the small game and bird
seasons.
Mr. Miller said the cover-
drawing on the new summary of
a farmer amiably greeting a
sportsman is meant to convey
good hunter-farmer relations
which should be firmly
established before hunIing takes
place on rural private property.
"'This particularly applies to
seurthern Ontario, where mueli
of the best small game and deer
hunting is found," the Minister
said,
"Some unfortunate ex-
periences in the past, such as
damage to farm equipment and
fences have resulted in the
permanent closure of some
otherwise good hunting land." he
added. "Sportsmen should keep
in mind when hunting on private
lands that they are guests of the
landowner and should fully
respect the rights of the lan-
downer."
WI hears
about Spain
By JOY SCHEIFELE
Kyle Pedersen, grandson of
Institute member Mrs. Nola
McEwen, spoke -to the members
of the Riverview Women's
Institute at their September
meeting,
Last March Lyle visited Spain,
One of the highlights of his visit
was being able to attend a
bullfight, one of the main tourist
attractions. He spent part of the
time at Madrid, and reported
visiting caves north of Gibraltar.
"Many of the buildings are
white cement to deflect the hot
sun", he related. It is a very old
country and the churches and
buildings are unique. Each
seemed to have rich tapestry and
lighted chandeliers. One church
visited was 1600 years old and
being restored.
In addition to showing slides of
Spain, he also showed the
members a ' number of the
souvenirs he brought back with
him including a leather hat with
carving.
The nine day trip was spon-
sored by Arva and Glencoe High
Schools.
Members decided at the.
meeting to study the course
"Festivals of Dairy Foods". The
course,will be open to members
and any in the community who
might also' be interested.
The meeting opened with the
Institute Ode and "Mary Stewart
Collect". President, Mrs. Alden
Craven chaired the meeting and
members responded to the roll
call by naming a world leader
and the county represented.
Mrs, Ivy Adams reported on
the County Rally held at Poplar
Hills in July, and Mrs. Ethel
Crouch presided for the program
on "World Affairs". She touched
on many interesting items, and
told how Canada takes her part in
trading with most countries of the
world.
A contest was conducted •by
Mrs. Bice which was won by Mrs.
S. McCallum and Mrs. Beatrice
Scafe.
