Store 397 Main St., 1 xeter Councillor resigns post Grand Bend's newest coun- cillor Bill Uniac tendered his resignation Tuesday night and it was accepted with regret. Uniac said he was being transferred to the Douglas Point nuclear project and would be unable to give the proper time to his council position. He/was elected as the third councillor on December, 1976, after only two persons. qualified during the original nomination and a second one was necessary. In the extra' election, Uniac defeated Grand Bend dentist Robert Clay'. Elected by ac- clamation were councillors Bill Baird and Harold Green. Reeve Bob Sharen said a special meeting will be held to name a replacement for Uniac. He added, "It must be done at a special meeting with it the only subject up for discussion. We will likely do it prior to a regular meeting within the next month." Uniac was also a member of the Grand Bend recreation committee. They motored to Cochrane and took the train to Moosonee and travelled by boat to Moose Factory, They visited a mine at Cobalt and enjoyed a boat cruise out of Huntsville, returning home through Algonquin Park and Belleville. While in Huntsville they called on Mrs, Gladys Harkness a former Centralia girl. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Lobb were guests over the Labour Day week end with their daughter and son- in-law Mr. and Mrs. Les Brown and family in Barrie. Lois Elliott, daughter of Mr, and Mrs, Wm. Elliott left this week to commence her studies at the University of Waterloo.
