R.R. 1, GRAND BEND 83 MAIN ST GRAND BEND Times-Advocate, September 8, 1977 Special visitors attend Church of God event Kerr says sewer job could be speeded up As the result of a recent meeting with Ontario Minister of the Environment George Kerr construction of the long proposed Grand Bend Sewage system could be speeded up. Reeve Bob Sharen and several members of council met with Kerr and Lambton MPP Lorne Henderson on August 10 in an attempt to hasten the project. Kerr informed council by letter this week, "We are hopeful funds shall become available for your project in 1978 and shall work towards calling tenders in October of that year if funds materialize." Kerr's letter continued, "I note and appreciate your municipality's concern in having the proposed sewage works constructed at the earliest possible date, however, as I pointed out at the meeting, this Ministry is under heavy con- straint with regard to con- struction spending, We are The members of Grand Bend Women's Institute are reminded of the first fall meeting, to be held at Mrs. Ed Gill's home, beginning at 6:30 with a pot luck supper. Sharen continued, "This is one way we can get the point across to government officials• that we have a real problem here and sewers are needed badly." The Reeve said several problems were alleviated over the Labour Day weekend by having septic tanks pumped out, Councillor Harold Green suggested some septic tanks be pumped every two weeks during peak periods. Harry Hoffman funeral home for Mrs. Kathleen Tomlinson, of 40 Morenz Lane, on Saturday September 3 in her 72nd year. Predeceased by her husband George Tomlinson in 1973. Surviving are one daughter (Joyce) Mrs. Milton Hart, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren, two sisters Mrs. Mary Hardy and Mrs. Phyllis Steele, three brothers, Robert, Ifarry and Baden Perry, all of England. Rev, H. Moore officiated at.the service with cremation and burial to follow in England. Former Grand Bend man dies Funeral service was held Sunday for William Bruce Bossenberry, (who died suddenly Thursday September 1.) at the T. Harry Hoffman Funeral home. In his 61st year, he was a son of Bruce and Myrtle Bossenberry, formerly of Grand Bend. Sur- vived by his wife Bernice Lowery, daughter Sandra (Mrs. L.F.Taylor) of Thamesford, Susan Bossenberry at home, Debra Ann, (Mrs. Robert Herd- man) of London, and son Michael Bossenberry, Grand Bend. Brothers Harry of Grand Bend, Alvin of Fort Pierce, sisters Carrie (Mrs. B. Medd) Napanee, Ann (Mrs. C. Acheson) Exeter, Alene (Mrs. P. Garvin) Atlanta, Georgia, Eleanor (Mrs. F. Simpkins) Kitchener, Margaret (Mrs. W. Sills) Ottawa, and two grandchildren. Rev. George Anderson D.F.C. officiated at the service.
