for all-star teams will pay an
additional $25 when the teams are
chosen late in Octeber.
EMHA president Ron Bogart
noted that it was important that
all players register this week so
that the appropriate teams can
be entered with the Shamrock
league and the OMHA,
He said there was some
question whether second teams
would be entered in some
categories and this can only be
determined after registration.
The EMHA also have to know
how many juvenile players want
to play to determine if an entry
can be made, There was no
juvenile team last year due to a
lack of interest.
Minor hockey players are also
invited to register for the annual
fall training program which
commences this Saturday at
Huron Park. It will run for five
weeks.
It had been originally intended
to have the fall program at the
South Huron rec centre but those
plans had to be shelved when it
became evident that ice would
probably not be available as soon
as anticipated.
Fee for the five-week training
program is $12.

Minor soccer
schedule ends
The regular season for the
Exeter minor soccer teams
ended last week on a successful
note.
The squirts blanked St. Marys
2-0, the atoms scored a 4-1 victory
and the pee wee clubs from the
two towns played to a scoreless
tie.
Playoffs for all categories in
the entire league will be held at
Lucan on Saturday, September
17. Each team will play three
times with a total of 24 games to
be played on four fields in Lucan.
It all begins at 9 a ,m.
In the squirt game, Wed-
nesday, Dave Russell scored the
first goal in the first minute of
play to the surprise of the St.
Marys team, Steve Kints was
credited with the assist.
St. Mary's tightened up the
defense which made it almost
impossible to get a shot at goal,
until Exeter was credited with a
penalty shot, sucessfully kicked
by Brian Quinn.
In the second half St. Marys
was determined • to come back
and even ,up the score, but the
Exeter defense and excellent
goal tending by Tim Moore made
it impossible for them to count,
The pee wees battled to a 0-0 tie
with St, Mary's at Canners field,
Thursday night, Exeter kept the
pressure on but shots were all
near misses. The shut out was
due to great goal tending of
Richard Helm,
Blain Epp scored three times to
lead the Exeter atom win over St.
Marys. Steve Gould booted the.
fourth goal.
Kirkton pool season ends
If you happened to be around
the Kirkton-WoOdham Pool this
week, you might have noticed a
sign that read "Sorry, we're
closed."
After a busy summer, the doors
that once rebounded sounds of
laughter, were locked for the
final time. However, you might
see some activity around the pool
this week, when Gerry Van
Bussel's crew returns to apply
the finishing touches of paint.
The pool management com-
mittee was very pleased with the
number of swimming lesson
'registrations for their first year
in operation. Registrations
reached the 380 mark, quite
above the expectations of the
committee.
Despite cool temperatures, the
pool staff and area swimmers
managed to hang in there,
knowing that there had to be a
warm sun lurking somewhere
behind those clouds.
Of course, the highlight of the
summer was not the official
opening of the K-W Pool, but the
day pool heater finally arrived!
Interest in public swimming
would have to be rated fair to
good for our first year, We were
glad to see many people taking
advantage of our season passes
and family plans.
Next year's activities for the K-
W Pool look even bigger and
better than this year. Pips may
include a swim team, a diving
class and special cpurses, such as
Bronze Cross and Award of
Merit. Also, various special
events are planned that will help
raise money for the pqol.
