Plan parent night for Cubs By PETER AIJNGER Who is involved in cubs? Although most will immediately think of several boys and a leader, some people may not realize a large number of other persons are involved, Really in our Exeter Cub Pack we function .as a cooperative of six groups namely; the boys who are the most important group: the leaders, Peter Aunger, Cheryl Chapman, Anne 1VIcVicar, dim O'Toole, Les Lewis, and Greg Pfaff; The Group Com- mittee, chaired by Dwayne Tinney, parents; The Boy Scouts through District, Provincial, and National Divisions; . and in- terested members of the public, (such as Lion Club sponsorship). Since the renewal of Exeter Cubs which started three years ago, we have had good success because of the cooperation of these six groups, If any one of these groups had not helped our Cub Pack would have ceased operations long before now. Why do we have cubs? Speaking for the leaders we work to obtain the four general ob- jectives for the development of boys in the Scout Movement; physical, mental, ,spiritual, and social development of young people. What do we do? In order to obtain the physical mental ob- jectives mentioned above we conduct regular meetings with games, drills, special presen- tations by members from the police, Canadian Legion, am- bulance service etc. In order to do the best job we take tours of local places of in- terest such as: the printing shop of the T-A; the local veterinary Huronview set fall activities The fall bazaar, tea and bake sale were the main topic of discussion at the August meeting of the Iluronview Auxiliary held in the Craft room on August 15. The suggested date for the bazaar is October 19. It is hoped many more members will be present at the next meeting of the Auxiliary, September 19, when plans will be finalized. chn;e; Exe Fibrecraft, Custom Trailer, etc. In order to fulfill our spiritual objectives we use songs, an an- nual church parade, and a short' service on our camping trips. For our social objectives we 'aim at group activities through our six organization in our regular meetings,Also in service activities and or money raising functions such as the food booth at the Exeter Fair, the boys are assigned jobs in groups. Normally we meet one night per week. Please note that we are holding a Parent's information night, Thursday September 8 at the Scout Hall, John Street West at 7:30 p.m, 235-2311 also VILLAGE ICE CREAM (MILKSHAKES) & (SUNDAES) GRANDMA'S SUBMARINES t.
