The Huron-Middlesex Cadet Corps will be represented next July when six Canadian cadets will be travelling to Germany to take part in an exchange of cadets of the two countries. The honour of being chosen one of the very few Canadians goes to Glenn Alblas of Huron Park. Glenn, a Master Corporal in the local cadet corps which is sponsored by the Exeter and Lucan branches of the Royal Canadian Legion. Glenn was chosen during a recent training session at Forces Two men die in accidents Two area men died in separate accidents this week. Barry John Hyams, Brinsley, died Friday when the van he was driving collided with a dump truck at the/ intersection of New Ontario Road and concession 13 near Lobo in Middlesex County. The dump truck driver, Oliver Grigg, Lucan, was not injured. On Sunday, George David McLeod, 17, of RR 8 Parkhill, drowned in a boating accident in the lake at the Parkhill con- servation area. Provincial police at Strathroy said McLeod and about six friends were boating — McLeod and one friend in a paddleboat and the others in two canoes — when one canoe tipped over. Occupants of the tipped canoe grabbed the paddleboat and McLeod jumped into the lake, police said. London Chairman Dale expressed his concern in this instance that the information about Dr. Lynch's position appeared in the press before county council had ap- proved the matter. He said he heard the story on the radio twice the morning of the county council session. "1 just don't like this coming out before our meeting," he told council Friday. "It tends to make !libber stamps of the 45 members Base Camp Borden, Local Cadet Commander Captain Don Lee reports that registration for the coming season for the Huron-Middlesex cadets will be held at the Huron Park Rec Centre on Thursday, September 8 at 7 p.m. Captain Lee asks any prospective members to come out for the opening session, Boys and girls between the ages of 13 and 19 years are eligible to join. Last year, the Corps was made up of 40 boys and 12 girls. Lee said the maximum would be close to 100. A feature of this fall's activities will be a first aid course which will be available to all cadet members on a voluntary basis. The local commander said green uniforms are being provided for the boys this year. The girls already had similar uniforms during 1976. PUC Continued from front page should do the same on occasions. To set the wheels in motion for a rate increase, the PUC had to approve the , capital and operating budgets for next year to send them along to Ontario Hydro. Included in the capital budget is $50,000 for a new line truck to replace the present 1965 model. Davis said the truck was continually breaking down and resulted in high maintenance costs. Livingstone suggested at first that the PUC get an estimate on having the truck repaired, but later agreed with a motion by Mayor Bruce Shaw to call ten- ders. Davis said he was concerned about the etnployees' safety, and ,Livingstone agreed that ...was important, and in fact wondered if the truck should even be on the road now. "I'm just saying we have to look closely at the cost," the Commissioner went on, noting he would certainly be in favor of the truck if the maintenance' costs were over the interest costs in- volved in purchasing a new one. Goderich Reeve Bill Clifford was even more adamant about his feelings that the story should not have been published in the press or broadcast by the elec- tronic media until county council had approved the hiring of Dr. Lynch. "I don't know what action we can take to see that it doesn't happen in the future," said Clifford, "but up with this we will not put, to quote Churchill." 'The source of the story was not revealed, although Dr. Mills said he was questioned concerning the matter by a reporter who already knew that Dr. Lynch was the likely candidate for the MOH's post.
