In their first game they beat Clinton 1-0 as Steve Hodgins hard grounder scored Doug Johnson in the fifth inning for the only run. In their second game the Royals beat the host team from. Zurich 11-6. The Royals led at one time by 6-2 but Zurich fought back to knot the count at 6-6, The Royals put the game away in the seventh as they scored five runs. Doug Johnson and Barry Baynham hit back to back solo home runs in the top of the fifth while Doug Johnsons double scored the winning run, Brian Hodgins also added a three run home run in the seventh. Cliff Gingerich and Bob Farquhar toiled for Zurich while Brian Hodgins struggled through for the Royals. In the final of the tournament the Royals met Brussels who scored four runs in the bottom of' the first inning and held on for a 4-2 victory and picked up'the $200 dollars and the trophy. The Royals received $45 as runnersup. Pete Stover scored the Royals first run while Barry Baynham scored the other on ,,Doug Johnsons single. Brussels k'picked up eight hits while the Royals c °ad manage only three hits. Brian Hodgins toiled for the Royals and after a shaky start pitched a strong game. Steve Hodgins, Barry Baynham and Doug Johnson had the only hits. Lieury were the consolation champs as they defeated South Zorra 2-1 on the strength of Bob Robinson's pitching. t
