After discussion of more than an hour between team representatives, the most valuable player award was split between John Hayter of the Dashwood Tigers and Don McDonald of the Clinton Colts. The other candidates for this honour were Pete Glover of the Crediton Mets and Doug Byers of Thorndale. Jim Guenther, another valuable member of the Dash- wood Tigers won two individual awards, Guenther was the top pitcher with a half dozen vic- tories to his credit and led in home runs with five. COMING TO EXETER — Buddy Morrow conductor of The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, is recognized as one of the all time. great trom- bone players. His great musicianship has been evident through the years and first came to the public eye when he was featured with leading orchestras such as Tommy Dorsey, Paul Whitman, Artie Shaw and Jimmy Dorsey, and as staff musician with many of the major radio and television shows. The Dorsey orchestra will be in Exeter on Saturday, September 3 for the opening of the South Huron Rec Centre, Rec fastball With several games remaining in the regular schedule in the Exeter and district rec ball league, Henson holds down first place. The Hensall club has a total of 27 points, one more than the second place Crescent Rolls. Gord's Variety is in second place and the Rookies are fourth, Usborne with 18 points is in fifth spot, the T-A next with 15, the Northlanders have 10 points and DIL bring up the rear with seven points. The . Dashwood Tigers who eliminated the Crediton Mets will meet either Clinton or Thorndale for the league championship. The deciding game in this series was played last night, Wednesday in Clinton. Dashwood leads Crediton by one game in a best-of-five series to decide which club will advance in OBA playoffs in the "D" division, Clinton will advance in "t"' and Thorndale is the London and District rep in the "D" classification, The annual Huron-Perth banquet will be held October 1 at the Pineridge Chalet when all trophies will be presented. Zurich fastball tourney planned The second annual Zurich fastball tournament scheduled for Saturday, August 20 promises to be an interesting and exciting one. Eight top," notch teams from Western Ontario will be par- ticipating in the one day event. They include the Zurich Buckeyes, Exeter Royals, Goderich, Brussels, Elmira, Clinton, Lieury and South Zorra. The first of 10 games will get underway at 8 a.m. with the championship contest slated for .8:45 p.m. Lucan , soccer clubs win The Lucan minor soccer teams came up with four victories over St, Marys Saturday in regular league play and three of the wins came by way of shutouts. Kevin Koricina scored four times to lead the Lucan squirts to a 7-0 victory. Mark Morrissey was next with a two goal effort and Ron Van Geel added a single score. Ian Craig gained the shutout. In atom play, Lucan also scored a lopsided 7-0 win. Jesse Crawford was the top marksman with four goals to his credit, Scoring in single fashion were Rick Emery, Erin McComb and Brent Fowles, The shutout was recorded by Gerry Emery. Joe Van Boxmeer, Ted Hall and Rob Black each scored on goal to lead- the Lucan mosquitoes to their 3-0 win. Al Craig and Rob Black shared the shutout. Scoring for Lucan pee wees in their 3-2 decision over St. Marys were Eric Drost, Mark De Boer and AI Craig. In exhibition play, the Lucan girls downed Clinton by a score of 5-1, Heather Hodgson with a four goal performance led the winning scoring attack. Adding the odd marker was Carol Manders,
