A grant Need volunteers to raze arena About 20 volunteers helped with the demolition of the old Hensall arena Saturday and Reeve Coog Knight hopes the help will con- tinue. Tuesday and Thursday evenings will be set aside as volunteer days, as well as Saturday, to prevent placing ads to draw people in to work, said Knight. Knight also estimated that a contract should be let for the new arena construction within the next week. VERA IRENE BROPHEY Vera Irene Brophey passed away at the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, on Monday, August 15, 1977, in her 80th year. Beloved wife of the late Arthur N. Brophey. Dear mother of Pearl (Mrs. Edward Bloomfield) of RR 1 Dashwood, Clarence E. (Jim) Brophey, of Markdale, Hugh Brophey, of London and Karen (Mrs. Donald McLellan), of Staffa. Sister of Dorothy (Mrs. Eldon Young) of Lucan and Manford Belling of Florida. Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Resting at the M. Box & Son Funeral Home, Parkhill where funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, August 18, at 2 p.m. Rev. Harley Moore of the Greenway United Church will officiate. Interment Grand Bend Cemetery. JANET McCURDY Miss Janet (Nettie) McCurdy passed away in South Huron Hospital, Exeter, on Sunday, August 14, 1977, in her 88th year. Dear sister of William and Sam McCurdy of Exeter and Mrs. Ethel Kay of Leamington. Also survived by several nieces and nephew. Predeceased by two sisters. Funeral service was held at the Hopper-Hockey Funeral Home, Exeter, Tuesday at 2 p.m. Interment in Roy's Cemetery. ANGUS DONALD McLEAN Angus Donald McLean passed away at The Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Sunday, August 14, 1977 in his 72nd year. Beloved husband of Irene (Murray) McLean of East Williams Twp. Dear father of Allan and Murray, both of East WilliamsTwp., Marion Stewart of London and Peter McLean of Lobo. Also survived by two grandchildren. Funeral service was held at the M, Box and Son Funeral Home, Parkhill, Wednesday at 2 p.m. Reverend Charles Falconer officiated. Interment in Nairn Cemetery. HESTER LOUISA REGIER Hester Louisa (Mullin) Regier passed away in Cottage Hospital, Detroit, Michigan, on Wed- nesday, August 10, 1977, in her 62nd year. Beloved wife of Anthony Theodore Regier, dear mother of Anthony (Tony) of Detroit. Mrs. Dave (Marilyn) Durand RR 3, Bayfield, Mrs. Donald (Sharon) Baker, RR 2, Dashwood, one brother, Larry Wayne of Great Falls, Montana, a sister Mrs, James (DorOthy) Bathgate, St. Clair Shares, Detroit, Michigan, seven grand- children. She was predeceased by her parents Mr. & Mrs, William Engle. Funeral Mass was held at Si Peter's R.C. Chjurch, St. Joseph, Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment in St. Peter's R.C, Cemetery, St, Joseph, from the Ministry of Education provides the funds for this pur- chase. At the meeting held in Dublin Monday night the trustees learned that there has been a roll back by the anti-inflation board of the 1977-1978 salary schedule School renovations right on schedule Renovation of Exeter Public School is on schedule and should be completed by September 1, according to Nick Klynstra, foreman for the project. The main classrobms and administration centre are to be completed for classes to begin in September but the new gym- nasium is not scheduled for completion until the end of October, said Klynstra. Light fixtures are the only things needed for several classrooms and, if they arrive on time, the September 1 deadline should be easy to meet, he said. Klynstra foresaw no problem with meeting the deadline for completion of the gymnasium construction, F.C. Marlatt, Dundas, is the contractor for the renovations and gymnasium construction. Pee wees win, meet Dashwood The Exeter pee wees have eliminated Seaforth in Western Ontario Athletic Association playoffs and will meet Dashwood in the next round. The first game will be in Dash- wood Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. with the second game back in Exeter Monday or Tuesday. The Exeter club ousted Seaforth in straight games by scores of 10-6 and 25-2. Dave Shaw was the winning pitcher in both games. He struck out five batters in the first contest and fanned nine in six innings of the second contest. Steve Prout tossed the last inning.
