An all-day demolition bee will be held, beginning between eight and nine o'clock, and volunteers may come and go as they please, said committee chairman Coog Knight. Mr. & Mrs. W.E. News from Huronview Several Huronview residents enjoyed the parade and centen- nial celebrations at Blyth on the week end. The former members of the Blyth United Church attended the Sunday morning service and were guests at the congregational dinner. Many thanks to those who made the arrangements and provided the transportation. Members of the congregation of the ClintonChristianReformed Church formed a choir for the song service on Sunday evening led by Dick Roorda and accom- panied by Mrs. Elsie Henderson. Mrs. Marie Flynn arranged the musical program for Family Night and played the piano ac- companiment. Harold Black, Clinton played guitar, his son Gary played the accordion and Lorne Lawson mouth organ. There were step dance numbers by Laurie Bell, Debbie and Dawn Flynn, Piano solos by Jane Bell and vocal solos by Debbie Flynn. Mr. Joe Flynn, grandfather of the dancers, thanked the enter- tainers on behalf of the residents. The Over-90 Club welcomed two new members at their August meeting, Mrs. Gertie Bell and Hugh Love, The Huron- view Orchestra provided the music for the program and led the sing-a-long. The Walkerburn Club assisted with activities. Volunteer labourers will be covered by a Municipal Accident Insurance policy while they are working on the arena. Knight said insurance had been arranged for up to 50 volunteers. The building committee also met Monday with Mennonite representatives to discuss demolition of the arena exterior. Knight said the exterior Parker, Bayfield also visited Clara Featherston. Don Beck accompanied by Louise Mitchell at the piano. demolition may be completed as late as November, depending upon the Mennonites harvest, but the arena interior should be gutted long before then. Material from the old arena will be sold by auction and possibly by two auctions, said Knight. Knight suggested that an early auction could be held in the gutted arena to sell material removed from the arena interior and another auction could be held to sell materials removed from the building by the Mennonites. A contract has not been signed for construction of the new arena but the total cost should still be around $690,000 said Knight. A fund-raising dance for the new arena will be held at Pineridge Chalet, August 20, from nine to one o'clock with music by Joe Overholt and the standbys. The admission charge will be $5.00 per couple. NURSING GRAD - Pat Van Wieren, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Klaas Van Wieren, Hensall graduated from Conestoga College, Stratford Division of Nursing. She is a graduate of South Huron District High School. Senior citizens of Zone Eight (Huron County) were very surprised when the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, The Honourable Pauline McGibbon paid an unexpected visit to their picnic at St. Christopher's Beach, Goderich, on Sunday, Mrs. McGibbon is honorary president of the Senior Citizens of Ontario and was in Goderich to unveil two plaques in the town, one at Courthouse Square and one at Harbour Park in honour of the Queen's Silver Jubilee. In a short speech, The Lieutenant Governor greeted those assembled and wished them well. She also reminded them that as seniors they were still able to contribute to society. Before leaving, she signed a get-well card to ailing Zone President, Mrs. Mary Greg. During the business session, it Church news Services were resumed in Hensall United Church Sunday, after the summer break, with Rev. Don Beck in the pulpit. The sermon, on the subject, "Ask and it will be Given You" was on prayer. Insistence and per- sistence are requisites for prayer: the reward is spiritual growth. Mrs. John Turkheim played the organ and Mrs. Donna St. John sang "Somebody Bigger than You and I." Next Sunday, combined ser- vices will be held at the United Church, when Anglicans and Presbyterians will join in wor- ship at 11 a.m, Dr. Fox of Huron College, London conducted service in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday. Miss Brenda Pepper presided at the organ. Personals Mr. & Mrs. Fred Howe, Arizona are visiting with the latter's sister Mrs. Grace4 Peck, Mr. & Mrs. Murray Keyes and Mr. & Mrs. Ed Corbett returned home after a pleasant weekend at the former's cottage in the Ha liburton District. Mr. & Mrs. Allan Busche and family of Dorchester were recent visitors with Mrs. Busche's parents Mr. & Mrs. Bert Horton. Mrs. Cecil Maxwell, who un- derwent surgery in University Hospital, London, Saturday, is gradually improving. was decided that Mr. & Mrs. Harry Baker would be delegates to the convention at McMaster University August 15-17. Prizes were given to the oldest lady present, Mrs. Edith Logan of Blyth, 94, and the oldest man present, Norman Ball of Clinton, 9:3; the longest-married couple, Mr. & Mrs. Bill Snyder, Goderich, who had been married 62 years; and the newest married couple, Mr. & Mrs. Ed Godkin, Clinton, who had been married 10 months. Mr. & Mrs, Grant Howe who had travelled from Arizona, the greatest distance, received a prize, Mrs. Howse of Clinton who guessed that the mystery box contained talcum powder, also received a prize. Happy birthday was sung to Ed Johns. The program consisted of violin, guitar and mouth organ numbers by two Goderich members, a reading by a Clinton member, humorous stories by a member from Dashwood, and a reading by a Bayfield member.
