secutive targets and Bob Snell on
two shots was able to break four

In the local league playoffs,
Crediton won the first game 5-3
but the Tigers bounced back to
win 8-1 Friday night and wrapped
up the series with a 4-1 decision

Tuesday's finale turned out to
be a real pitching battle. Perry
Stover of the Tigers allowed only
one hit while Jim Pfaff who went
the distance for Crediton was
touched for only six well scat-
tered hits.
Dashwood scored two runs in
the fourth inning as Rob Dickey
doubled and Rick Schilbe and
Perry Stover contributed singles,
Kevin Bestard's single along
with a couple of errors produced
the final two Tiger tallies in the
sixth.
The lone Met run crossed the
plate in • the first inning when
Keith Davey walked and was able
to score without the aid of a hit.

Thursday night the Exeter
Royals dropped Beechwood by a' Beechwood' by
score. Scott Burton in his
second start of the year allowed
only three hits in picking up the
win.
The Royals opened the scoring
in the bottem of the first as Bill
Farquhar singled and scored as
Steve Hodgins singled and Doug
Pearson hit a sacrifice fly.
The Royals added two runs in
the second as Paul McKnight
reached first on a fielders
choice and singles by Scott
Burton, Doug Johnson and Pete
Glover chased in the runs.
Beechwood hit the scoreboard
in the third as Paul Steeper
tripled and scored on Doug
Ross's long fly. The Royals upped
the count to 3-1 in the bottem of
the fourth as Scott Burton
walked, stole second and scored
as Doug Johnsons hard liner was
misplayed.
They added two more in the
bottom of the fifth as Bill
Farquhar singled, Doug Pearson
singled and both scored on
grounders by Brian Hodgins and
Barry Baynham.
The final Royal run scored in
the bottom of the sixth as Doug
Johnson singled and scored as
Pete Glover hit a single. Beech-
wood scored two runs in the top of
the seventh to complete the
scoring. Scott Burton picked up
the win while Mei McCallum took

Friday night in an exhibition
game the Royals led by former
Royal pitcher Bob George
defeated London Life 3-2. All the
runs came early in the game,
London Life scored one in the
top of the first and the Royals
knotted the count in the bottom of
the first as Steve Hodgins and
Doug Pearson hit singles,
London went ahead 2-1 in the
second and then in the bottom of
the first as Steve Hodgins,
Bill Farquhar, Scott Burton and
Doug .Pearson all rapped out
singles, ,
Dick Bennett went the distance
for London Life allowing three
runs on nine hits while striking
out seven batters. Bob George
allowed two hits while striking
out 16 batters.

Tuesday night the Exeter
.Royals were trounced by Lieury
10-1. Lieury opened the scoring in
the top of the third as Bill
.Woodburn singled and seared on

They added three runs in the
fourth as Gary, Legers single and
Bill. Woodburns home run were
the big blows. They went ahead 5-
0 in the sixth as Gary Leger
tripled and scored as Paul
Hodgins hit a single.
The Royals scored their only
run in the bottom'of the sixth as
Doug Pearson reached on an
error and scored asiCliff Gingerich
doubled,
Lieury added five runs in the
top of the seventh as Steve
Hemming, Gary Robinson and
Les Drury singled and scored as
Gary Leger and Paul Hodgins hit
consecutive home runs.
Bob Robinson was on the
mound for Lieury and pitched a
strong game striking out 12
batters.

account for the Royals, hits, Cliff
Gingerich took the loss for the
Royals allowing 11 hits and
striking out three.
The Royals are in action three
times this week, They play in
Crediton to-night against Huron
Park. Tuesday they play host to
Parkhill and on Wednesday they
are the host. of the Southwestern
Fastball league All, Star Game.
The Royals, last years leagee•
champs will be playing the best
from the rest of the league, The
starting pitchers for the all star
team include Dennis Carty of
Lucan, Ernie Schlegal of Nairn
and Mike Steeper of West Cor-
ners.

Last week's Participaction
Week was concluded with a field
day. The morning track events
included the one hundred yard
dash and the two hundred and
four hundred yard runs. The
afternoon events were field
events such as the running long
and stand broad jump and the
shot put,
Ribbons were given to winners
of each event as well as division
champions, receiving trophies.
Everyone who competed were
given competitor ribbons. The
girls champion in the Junior
division was Carol Morrissey
and the boys champion was
Russell Finkbeiner.
' The Intertnediate division was
lead by Stephanie . Jones and
Gerry Grubbe. Valerie Morrison
and Edward Morrison received

they are tramps, greasers and
grubs. It looks like it could be an
interesting day,
Next week is Carnival Week.
The big event for the week will be
the Penny Carnival on Friday on
the school grounds, There will be
games, prizes, a refreshment
stand, clowns, haunted house,
and a baking and craft stand.
Come join the fun,
scoring attack by crossing the
plate no less than seven times.
