Joint church

Morning Prayers and the
collect for the seventh Sunday
after Trinity were repeated by
the members of Holy Trinity
Anglican and Lucan United
Churches, led by Rev. John
Hofland,
August 6 commemorates a
special event in the earthly life of
Jesus - and there is a special
Collect for this event, "The Feast
of Transfiguration", included in
the Prayer Book,
Mr. Hofland advised the
congregation to study the reasons
for the prayer book, otherwise
one will lose something of the
meanings of the various prayers
and it will be impossible to be
lifted up in the Spirit. Our wor-
ship must rise, symbolically, to
God not only on Sunday, but any
day, or any time.
Peter said "It is good to be
here" and if our faith expands
inwardly we will repeat these
words of Peter's. After their
"renewal" the three disciples
returned to reality to face their
responsibilities, so, when we
reach our "mountaintop" we will
return, renewed, to our everyday
responsibilities.
Mr, Hofland expressed his good
wishes to the members of the
United Church asking them to
support wholeheartedly their new
minister and voiced his regrets
re not being able to attend the
Induction as he will be in Holland.
The flowers at the altar were in
loving memory of Jenny Hodgins
and to the glory of God, placed by
her family.
Members of Holy Trinity were
invited to worship at Lucan
United Church for the next four
Sundays, at 11:15 and or attend
Holy Communion in their own
church at 9 a.m. when Rev. C.H.
James will celebrate the
Eucharist on July 31st, and Rev.
F.T. James the following three
Sundays. In case of emergency
the latter will be available.
