set at $50,000
Fire officials estimate damage
in' a Sunday morning barn fire
,just .north of Brucefield at about
)$50,000.
Brucefield Deputy Fire Chief
Wallace Jackson said Monday
the figure covers only the cost of
the building, owned by John

be the cost of the hay in the barn
and about 150 pigs.

the 18-man fire department was
at the farm "within minutes",

Escape from
burning craft
Two London men are safe after
being forced to jump overboard
late Sunday when a 42-foot cabin
cruiser burst into flame 500 feet
off the .main beach at Grand
Bend.
The men, Russell Urlin of 1109
Riverside Dr. and James Jaquith
of 791 Wonderland Rd., were
rescued by another boat as the
$45,001) Big Bull was destroyed by
fire.
All that was left of the home-
made wooden boat Monday was a
fuel tank floating about two miles
offshore and the sunken hull,
Grand Bend provincial police
Sgt. Ted Boon said the boat was
owned by Shirley Urlin, mother
of Russell, also of 1109 Riverside
Dr.
Boon said the men apparently
experienced trouble with one of
the two 210-h.p. engines and when
they tried to get it started it back-
fired and "poof, away she went."
Boon said the men tried to
extinguish the fire, couldn't do so
and jumped overboard.
Thomas Lawson, aboard the
Anita III, was cruising out of the
harbor when he saw the flames
and raced over to rescue the men,
Neither was hurt,
Boon said the Big Bull,
