HAROLD DAVIS KIRKTON Kirkton-Woodham United churches held a joint service in Woodham Sunday. This Sunday July 17 the service will be held at 11 a.m. at Kirkton church. Mrs. Albert Bickel! has returned home after visiting with her daughter this past week Mrs. Stanley of London. Mrs. Budden has been visiting with her son Mr. & Mrs. Boyd Budden and their infant daughter in London. Mrs. Clarence Switzer attended the 45th wedding anniversary of Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Lewis, Bowmanville and visited with 'Mr, & Mrs. Maurice Lewis of Milleken. "The area farmers whom I've met have been warm and open people", he acknowledged. Page 24 Times-Advocate, July 14, 1977 TiI Saintsbury A.C.W. plans pool party and banquet Pickering reunion attracts 70 "It is a pleasure to be here", smiled James Phillips, Ailsa Craig's new bank manager. "We're really looking forward to our stay in Ailsa Craig". Born and raised in Wabash, Ontario, a small farming com- munity just south east of Mr. Phillips began his banking career in his home town of Wabash, and over the past twelve years has been employed by the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Virgil, Ridgeway, Hamilton and Londsin. On July he was prompted from the Regional Office Credit Depart- ment in London to the position of manager at Ailsa Craig. The Phillips family anticipate moving to Ailsa Craig from London the last week in July. "We've been coming out in the evenings planting a few flowers, etc. getting ready to move into the bank house", reported Mr. Phillips, "and we're anxious to get settled in Ailsa Craig. We've already met several people with whom we discovered mutual friends and it is like coming home in a way". The Phillips have two young daughters, Christine 7 and Caryn 3. The move will allow Christine her first experience of riding a school bus when she resumes school in September and she reports she is very excited about the prospect. Mr. Phillips and his wife, Evelyn, met while both were growing up in Wabash. Mrs. Phillips has been working as a bank teller in London. By MRS. HEBER DAVIS SAINTSBURY Mrs. Harry Carroll gave her home on Tuesday evening for the July A.C.W. meeting with. 12 Members attending. Mrs. Heber Davis president was in charge. Following the singing of a hymn and scripture reading Mrs. Wayne Carroll read the meditation. Mrs. Earl Greelee ,Secretary read the minutes of the June meeting, Reports were given on the bale "sent in June to the branches Prayer Partner. The mystery prize donated by Mrs. Harry Carroll was won by Mrs. Larry Greenlee. Plans were made for two July banquets and a pool party for the ladies and children at the home of Mrs. Hugh Davis and an August pool party at the home of Mrs. Leslie Greenlee, following Summer School at St, Patrick's Sunday School, Mr. & Mrs. Larry Greenlee and Mr. & Mrs. Leslie Greenlee, Kim and Pam were part of a group of young people who went camping to "Wildwood Lake" for the weekend. Mr. & Mrs, Ron Carroll, Ian and Brenda and Lisa and Julie were dinner guests Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Harry Carroll. Mr. & Mrs. Bob Tindall, Nancy, Marylou and Robert attended the '"Tindall Reunion" Sunday. Mr. & Mrs. Heber Davis were dinner guests Friday night with Mr, & Mrs, Mervin Elston and on Sunday Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Davis, London, Mr. & Mrs. Clarende Davis and Mr. & Mrs. Earl Greenlee visited the Davis', spent the weekend with Mr, & Mrs. Rea Stephen, Mr. & Mrs. Keith Stephen, Valarie and Marie of Anderson were $aturday evening dinner guests. Arvin Hanna of Vancouver B.C. is visiting friends in the vicinity Murray Switzer left Tuesday. morning by bus for Indiana as a 4-11 exchange member. Reverend & Mrs. C. D, Hen- derson, St, Catharines were Sunday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. G. H. Burgin and on Monday Mr. & Mrs. J. Russell Shier of Seattle U.S.A. A family gathering was held in the evening; cousins of Russell Shier, Mr. Newton Pridham, Mr. & Mrs. Ray Norris of Kirkton, Mr. & Mrs. Fred Hamilton of Stratford and Mr. & Mrs. Fred Pridham, Russeldale. Mr. & Mrs. Ray Norris have their grandson Rukie Smith Trenton, visiting with them Mr.. & Mrs. Brian Hardeman and girls have returned home from a two week vacation to Georgia U.S.A. where they• at- tended a wedding. Brian Har- deman's mother accompanied them on the trip, Mr. & Mrs. John Muscroft and family of Sussex N.B. visited this week with Mrs. Dan Jarvis, Mrs. Joan Massicotte and girl friend of Toronto was a recent visitor with her mother.
