Vaccinated against rabies. before
leaving hone.
Rabies is a viral disease of the.
nervous system transmitted in
the saliva of rabid animals. Dogs
and cats bitten by a rabid animal
can pass this disease to man.
Ontario Ministry of Agriculture
and Food veterinarian, Dr. H.J.
Neely, says rabies can be
prevented by vaccinating
travelling pets, This rabies
vaccine is effective for two years.
"Pets. should get rabies vac-
cinatons at least 10 days before
departure. This allows time for
the pet to build up animmunity to
rabies," says Dr. Neely.
Pet owners must also vaccinate
animals they plan to take out of
Canada.
"To take a pet to the United
States and other countries, pet
owners need a valid vaccination
certificate less than two years old
which is dated at least 10 days
before departure."
Pet owners should report
unusual animal behavior to a
veterinarian.

Rod Maclnnes said, "Stewart's
are now among the top five
brands in the country in corn."
He continued, "Seven years
ago, Stewart was virtually a non-
enity in the corn market. To
achieve this phenomenal growth,
Stewart's had to innovate.

Canada,
In the cereal seed grain
business, Stewart has con-
tributed immensely to the
Agricultural Scene in Canada.
The New Zealand multiplication
program has brought new
varieties to the commercial
market in half the time
previously needed. The Stewart
Cereal Research Program has
developed some extremely
promising experimental
varieties.
In 1978, Stewart will market
two exclusive Soybean Varieties
as well as have exclusive mer-
chandising rights on Laurier
Barley and Oxford Oats
developed at Macdonald College
and the University of Guelph
respectively. In the next few
years, the number of varieties
Stewart have exclusive rights to,
will increase rapidly as results of
the Research Program achieves
commercial maturity.
What has made this possible? -
two things - people and research.

Stewart Research Acres,
In 1977 two new hybrids were
introduced to the market. They
were Stewart 290 OC 95 days 2900
heat units and Stewart 310 OC 101
days 3050 heat units.
Both these Hybrids were sold
out early in the season. At this
date the crop reports indicate
their performance and yield will
be outstanding. Poole added,
"We will be adding two more

Farmers have been looking for
an early 3 way cross Hybrid that
will produce great grain yields

Poole continued "This is an
outstanding Hybrid that com-
plements other Stewart Hybrids
in later maturity districts, It is a
tall, strong Hybrid that will
provide good yields of grain or
silage."
Corn acreage in Canada con-
tinues to expand. Stewarts are
proud to state they have a share
of the market in all corn growing
districts from the Atlantic to the
Pacific.
The demand for Stewart
Hybrids in New York and the
New England States continues to
increase, Increased sales cer-
tainly indicates yield with per-
