Manager Hugh Davis said the 1965 line truck has "rotted" to the point where it must be replaced, noting that it probably wouldn't pass a safety check at the present time. He said the cost of the truck could be debentured, but ex- plained that come Commissions are getting five—year loans from their councils to cover vehicle purchases. The loans are then paid back out of operating funds. Davis noted that the truck was scheduled for replacement in 1978 and told the Commission they would have to make a decision within a month if it is to be replaced early next year. Mr. Arvin Hanna of Vancouver, Mr. & Mrs. Clayton Hanna of London called on their sister Mrs. Mary Thomson on Monday to help her celebrate her 80th bir- thday. Mr. Eckert, his wife Jo-Anne, three daughters, Mary Katherine, 12; Colleen, 10; Tara- Anne, 6; and son Joseph, 2, recently moved to St. Marys from Brantford. Mr. Eckert told the board following his appointment that he believes strongly "that the quality and strength of our system comes from the classroom teacher. One great strength lies in the quality of character and skills that our teachers are bringing to the education process, and without doubt that will continue". He said he wants to continue to concentrate on child-centred learning as well as further refinement of core content skills and attitudes for the various sub- ject areas. At the meeting were Jim Sherlock of the Toronto office of the Ontario Separate School Trustees Association and the Association's lawyer, Phil Tra‘versty of Toronto.
