Careless drivers
pay court fines
Justice of the Peace Douglas
Wedlake presided at Tuesday's
court session in Exeter and the
stiffest fine levied was against a
Grand Bend man who was in-
volved in an accident on May 28.
Mike Anderson had been
travelling north on Andrew St. in
Exeter around 6:30 a.m., when
his car slammed into a hydro
pole.
The court was told there were
skid marks measuring a distance
of 173 feet,
Anderson pleaded guilty to a
charge of careless driving and
was fined $150 or 15 days. He
was also fined $50 or four days on
a charge of having liquor readily
available in his vehicle.
The only other careless driving
count heard on Tuesday was
against Donald Arthur McKellar,
RR 2 Grand Bend. He was in-
volved in an accident on June 5,
McKellar was fined $105 or 11
days.
In other cases, the following
fines were levied:
Kenneth Kelly, Alberta, $54 for
having liquor readily available in
his vehicle.
Margaret D. Anoquot, Sarnia,
$10 for a speed of 60 in a 50 zone;
Daniel F. LaPorte, RR 2 Zurich,
$26 for a speed of 43 in a 30 zone;
Patrick J. Ryan, Lucan, $13 for a
speed of 40 in a 30 zone.
