Maid of honor was Mary Ann Desjardine, friend of bride, bridesmaids were Laura Bryant, groom's sister and Vicky Clarke, bride's sister. Best man was Pat McCann, cousin of groom, ushers were Mike Lane, brother of groom, and David Clarke, cousin of bride. Dinner and dance reception was held at the Dashwood Community Hall. Tliei young couple will be living in Huron Park. Personal Mr. & Mrs. Tony Regier Jr., Christopher and 'Heather of Detroit spent the , weekend in Canada at their cottage and visited Sandra's parents Mr. & Mrs. Ken Baker Sr. and family. Ed Turnbull has returned home after a week's holiday on Manitoulin Island with his Burt relatives. Recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Harold Vincent land family were her sister and family Mr. & Mrs. Horst Kovitzki, Kerry, Kevin and Angela, Evart, Michigan. Weekend guests with Mr. & Mrs. Howard Clarke, following the wedding of their daughter, Marlene, were Mr. & Mrs. Clem Costello, Cariipville near Ottawa. Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Morenz were HONOR TURNBULLS Around 50 relatives, friends and neighbours, gathered Thursday evening at the home of Mr. & Mrs, Elgin Hendrick, to honor Max Turnbull and Mr. & Mrs, Jack Turnbull. During the social time they visited and talked. Fergus Turnbull read a presentation address and Elgin Hendrick presented the men with wallets"and money and Jean with a clutch purse. Lunch and refreshments were served picnic style. i The Turnbull Century farm was sold to family relatives, and at present the Turnbull's live in Gra 4d Bend. Special guests were Mr„ & Mrs. Morton Turnbull of Par hill, Morton and Max are twiti %brothers and well past 85 yelrs young. 1 NO ACCIDENTS The Grand Bend detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police reported no accidents last week. The detachment laid 70 charges under the Liquor Licence Act, 48 Highway Traffic Act charges, six charges under the Narcotic Control Act and one Criminal Code Act charge. Forty Golden Agers left Grand Bend at 9 a,rn, Tuesday morning on a one day charter bus trip. First stop was to view the Parkhill Dam, continuing on via StrathroY and Ailsa Craig, going past the Stewart and Bannister seed testing farms. A stop at the Dounham Nur- sery, through Lower Thames Valley to Longwood Conservation area near Delaware and a visit at the Sea-Ma-DLit Indian village, were lunch was enjoyed in a picnic area. Then continuing on to St„ Thomas, Waterworks and Pinafore Park, and to Elgin County Museum. Supper was enjoyed at a Ponderosa in London and a tour through Story Book Gardens at Springbank, and home again. Church news The first outdoor service of this season at the United Church was held Sunday morning. Rev. H. Sunday supper guests with Mr..& Mrs. Ross Corbett, Steve and Jeff of near Hensall. They also visited with Mr. & Mrs. Al Corbett, Jonathon and Catharine, Sunday evening guests with Mr. & Mrs. Oscar Miller were Mrs. Freda Wilson, Westminster, B.C., Mr. & Mrs. Melvin Stade and Sherrie, Mr. & Mrs. Reinhold Miller and their granddaughter Lisa Miller, Mrs. Hilda Rader and Mrs. Martha Miller, all of Dashwood and area. Sunday dinner guests with Mr. & Mrs. Ferman Snyder were Mr. Cleason Martin, Mr. & Mrs. Tillman Martin and family, Elmira, and Mr, & Mrs. Lloyd Martin and family of Saturn, Four assisting area students Four teenagers Vicki O'Rourke of RR 4, Seaforth; Dawn Sharo of Mitchell; Sharon White of RR 2, Gadshill and Kathryn O'Leary of Staffa are spending their eight- week summer vacation so that children receiving special education in separate schools in Huron and Perth counties next term may find it easier to learn. Sharon White a first-year nursing student at Fanshawe College who is the project leader explained that 'they are developing and collating material for the eight special education teachers with the Huron-Perth County Roman Catholic Separate School Board to help them prepare their programs for the exceptional children (from gifted to slow learners) they teach. The girls are paid through an Experience '77 government grant for $6,116.08 for which Joseph Mills, superintendent of program for the board .applied. Mr. Mills said he had 90 ap- plications for the six positions. Two more girls will join the four- member team next week. No boys applied. Miss White said among the things they are doing, they make flash cards, do some taping and taking pictures in the community for slide presentations. Moore's sermon topic was "Growing, Going Christians." Special music was supplied by Mrs. Maria McKinnon when she sang two solos "Trees," and "I'm here on business for the King," accompanying herself on guitar. Flowers were placed in memory of Jim Miller, an ac- cident victim of last week. Other flowers were in memory of Paul Blewett who passed away 20 years ago. Rev, H. Moore and several choir members conducted an evening service for residents of the Blue Water Rest Home Sunday evening. Guest speaker Sunday evening at the Church of God was Rev. R. Hallman of London, representing the Canadian Home Bible League. He spoke on India and showed slides with commentary. The Church ladies served lunch and refreshments in the Sunday School rooms following the service. Personals Mr. & Mrs, Art Finkbeiner returned home, Saturday from Welland with their daughter and son-in-law Dr. and Mrs. C.B. Sanders. Mrs, Finkbeiner has been ill since early June, having been a patient in St. Joseph's hospital and then recuperating at her daughter's home, The San- ders spent the week-end here with her parents. Mr. &, Mrs. Ed Gill, ac- companied by three of their grandsons, Dan and Daryl Gill and Bevan Reith, travelled last week to North Bay, where they attended the High School Graduation of their grandson, John Ramsdell. John is planning to attend the University of Western Ontario at London. The Church of God Sunday School picnic, scheduled for last Wednesday evening, was post- poned till a later date, due to cool windy weather. Mrs. Fred Harrison, Indiana spent some holidays recently with her mother Mrs. Rosie Grigg, Mrs. Rosie Grigg attended the Christening, last Sunday, of her great granddaughter, Amanda, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Martin Grigg of Strathroy. During the week she visited another grand- daughter Mr. & Mrs. Jim Ryan and David,. also her son & wife Mr. & Mrs, Russell Grigg, all of Strathroy. The girls have been attending Western University. Week-end guests with Mr. & Mrs. Arnold Kuntz were their granddaughter Brenda Travis and her friends Louise Weekes and Karen MacPherson, Grimsby. GETS MASTER'S DEGREE — Marion Walsh, daughter of Mrs. Ruth Gray, Parkhill and the late Gordon Gray recently received the degree of Master of Educa- tion from the University of Wind- sor. A teacher at Shawnee Secon- dary School in Windsor, she will be a consultant for the Ministry of Education at special courses to be held in Barrie this summer.
