the ceremony in the United
Church Friday evening when
Linda Stewardson and Ken
Wilson were married. Linda is
the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Willis
Stewardson and Ken, the son of
Les Wilson, Lucan,
Mrs. Fred Bullock and Evelyn
Curls accompanied Rev. Harley
Moore in conducting worship at
the Bluewater Rest Home,
Zurich, Sunday evening.
Albert Romphf is now a
resident of Chateau Gardens,
Parkhill.
Cliff and Joanne Nowitski,
Brenda and Darryl, Mississauga
were holiday' weekend visitors
with Joanne'S parents;' Mt. &
Mrs. Clare Reid.

The Dashwood Tigers enjoyed
their best week of the season in
the Huron-Perth intermediate
baseball league. They scored four
successive victories.
Friday night on their home
field, the Tigers scored a
resounding 14-1 win over the
Crediton Mets and Sunday they
travelled to Thorndale and won
both ends of a doubleheader by
scores of 17-0 and 14-2, They
continued their winning ways
Monday night by edging the Mets
, in Crediten 10.8.
The Tigers were in Clinton last
night, Wednesday to meet the
Colts, Friday they will be at home
to Kincardine at 8 p.m, and
Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. they
will meet the juveniles.
Come from behind
The Dashwood club was forced
to come from behind to post
Monday's 10.8 win over Crediton,
After the Tigers scored three
times in the first inning, the Mets
rebounded to gain an 8-5 margin
by the end of the sixth inning,
Jim Guenther's long home run
with Dave Parsons and Rick
Schilbe on with base hits sent the
Tigers in front 3-0 in the first
frame, Also singling in the first
were Kevin Bestard and Jim
Dietrich,
Guenther playing at first base
bashed his second homer of the
night to open the third and Kevin
Bestard followed with his second
single and he was able to come
around to score.
The next three runs for
Crediton came in the bottom of
the fourth when Dan Heywood
walked, Bill Hodge doubled, Dick
Bedard was safe on an error and
Pete Wuerth cracked a single.
The first three Met scores
came in the third on three Tiger
fielding miscues and a single
from the bat of Larry Clarke.

Guenther wins
Southpaw Jim Guenther was on
the Dashwood mound in Sunday's
second game 4-2 win over
Thorndale. He allowed only four
hits and struck out five. In ad-
dition he doubled in the sixth and
scored the final Dashwood run,
The first two Tiger tallies came
in the third inning when Joe
Arnold was hit by a pitch and
scored on a home run from the
bat of Dave Parsons,
Singles by Doug Fairbairn,
Dave Parsons and Bob Hoffman
produced the third Dashwood run
in the fifth.
Brooks gets shutout
In the first game of the twin
bill, Paul Brooks held Thorndale
to four hits and chalked up five
strikeouts in getting the shutout.
The Tigers broke the game
wide open with a six run outburst
in the third inning.
Dave Parsons and Paul Brooks
led the Tigers at the plate with
three hits apiece. All were
singles. Checking in with two hits
each were Joe O'Rourke, Jim
Dietrich and Terry O'Rourke
while John Hayter, Doug Fair-
bairn, Brad Gregus and Rob
Dickey each collected one hit.
Close for five
In Friday's 14-1 win for the
Tigers over Crediton, the game
was close for the first half with
the score tied at 1-1 after five
innings.
The first Dashwood run came
in the third frame when Paul
Brooks walked and scored on a
single from , the bat of Wally
Webster.
Crediton tied the score in the
fourth when Jeff O'Brien singled
and came in to score on a similar
hit from the bat of Dan Heywood.
Base hits by Rob Dickey, Dave
Parsons and Terry O'Rourke
produced four Dashwood go-
a head runs in the sixth. A double
by Brad Gregus and singles by
Perry Stover, Dave Parsons and
Glen Thurman chased two more
Tiger runs home in the seventh.
The final seven runs in the
eighth came on base hits by Dave
Parsons, Wally Webster, Kevin
Bestard and Perry Stover.
Perry Stover went the pitching
distance for Dashwood and held
the Mets to five hits while fanning
six.
Rick Bowers was the Crediton
starter and was very effective for
the first five innings allowing
only three hits, Pete Wuerth took
over in the eighth and finished up.

Once again this year we are
trying to start our swim team off
with a splash! The staff of the
Wonderful, Wonderful pool in
Exeter has been busily trying to
make arrangements for a
swimathon which is to be held
this coming Saturday, July 9
beginning at 9 o'clock in the
morning,
It is our hope that enough
money will be raised to prevent
the children from paying
registration fees. We will also be
using any money raised to pay for

Jack Fuller fired a 72 to take
low gross honours in the "A"
flight men's nite competition at
the Ironwood golf course Tuesday
night.
Glenn Kadechuk was next with
a 74 and Doug Ellison was the low
net shooter at 68 followed by Don
Gifford.
In the "B" flight, Gord Ross
proved to be best with a 78.
Second in low gross with an 80
was Jim Guenther. Net winners
were Wayne Brunzlow and
Dennis Hockey with 65's,
Best in the "C" flight low gross
with an 82 was Steve Pfaff,
Runnerup was Clarence
Ferguson. Low net winners were
Bob Forrest and Charlie Smith.

July 4 to July 8 has been
Welcome Week at the Huron
Park summer recreation
program, The children started
the program early Monday
morning with a large turnout of
new members. The total
enrollment was raised to over 120
children.
Monday the children were
given mouse name tags and
welcomed to the Huron Park
S.P.A.R.K, playground.
All the children ranging in age
from five to fourteen years joined
together as a group in the
planned activities. These ac-
tivities included: active games,
songs, crafts and a story period.
A rainy Tuesday brought the
junior children indoors. The
normal daily playground ac-
tivities were carried out in the
school gym in the morning. The
afternoon brought sunnier spirits
so the original schedule of a
scavenger hunt was carried out.
Wednesday was a normal
playground day with the groups
working individually.Swimming
was planned for the afternoon for
those who returned their per-
mission slips.
Thursday is backwards day
and the children are coming
wearing their clothes backwards
and playing the games back-
wards.
Friday will end the first week
of playground in Huron Park. To
celebrate the end of welcome
week there is a planned surprise
for the enrolled members of
Next week's theme is Holiday
week and the. children will be
celebrating Thanksgiving,
Hallowe'en, Easter, Valentines,
and Christmas.
