Kindest personal regards. Yours truly, Jack Riddell, M.P.P. Huron-Middlesex. Dear Sir: Now that the Rec. Centre is closed in we have had many inquiries about the status of our fund raising campaign. I hope this explanation will answer many questions. Our recent tel-a-thon brought in a total of $10,398.41. The walk-a- thon receipts to date are $12,838.15 with a possible $1,000 outstanding. From these two events the area raised $23,236.56 with another possible $1,000 to Popular puppets will visit Exeter The Binkly and Doikel Road Show will hit Riverview Park Friday and the message will be beware of hazardous products. At this point I might add that it would make the efforts much easier if all those who have not brought in their collections if they would do it as soon as possible, it By MRS. HAMILTON HODGINS Betty Johnson spent a few days with her sister Mrs, Jim Bet- teridge, St. Marys. Mr. & Mrs. Chas. McRoberts visited with George Thomson at the Komoka Nursing Home recently. Mr. & Mrs, Gerald Wallis were guests at the Mykyta-Park wedding Saturday at Thames Road Church and reception in the evening in Kirkton-Woodham Community Centre. Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Hern and family, Zion were Sunday dinner guests with Mr. & Mrs. Earl French, would be much appreciated. Recent miscellaneous donations have totaled $1990.00. Last week we disposed of our trailer office at a price of $2300.00 to a Toronto firm. This was the best offer we could get. To date our total receipts have reached $260,641.00. Our total expenditures over the campaign were $9,100 to date. Interest accumulation on our money for the short time it was in the banks amounted to $2,000.00. All this leaves us with a balance of $253,641,00. Our objective was $254,000.00. This means we have $459.00 to go, Now before everyone starts jumping up and down and shouting "We've done it", let me explain one problem. In the original plans the main foyer and the washroom area did not have any ceiling. To enter the new facility and see all the pipes and wiring ex- posed did not present a very good scene for an otherwise great looking hall and arena. The building committee decided to authorize a ceiling to be installed now while we can get the grant for it. This means a slight overbudget of approximately $3500 - $4000. So, we have about $4,000 to go. At this stage in our campaign that appears as a very small amount, compared to one year ago when we had $ 254,000 staring us in the face. This summer we do not have any major fund raising schemes planned, All our efforts are being directed towards the grand opening. We have an excellent program arranged for Labour Day weekend. We hope you will come out and support us to finish off the fund raising and help us purchase the furnishings for the hall and kitchen to make the new rec. centre of South Huron a pride to those who contributed and made it a reality, Ron Bogart S,H.R.C.
