The population of Greenway
swelled to 680 people Saturday
evening, when the United Church
Women catered at their annual
strawberry and ham supper,
Friends came from as far away
as Toronto, Sarnia and London to
join in the festivities,
Mrs. Tom Horner was hostess
at a miscellaneous shower,
Wednesday evening, for Vickie
Lagerwerf, bride-elect of this
Week, Many friends of the guest
Of honour attended.
Evelyn and Manuel Curts at-
tended a surprise party for Mr. &
Mrs. Lawrence Cods at their
home in Grand send, Tuesday
evening, the occassion being
their 55th wedding anniversary:
Immediate members of their
family numbering 15 were
present from Sarnia, Telephone
greetings were also received
from their daughter in Saskatoon
and from their daughter in
Toronto, who recently returned
from a holiday in Italy.
Flowers in the United Church,
Sunday, were in memory of the
late Archie Adair, father of Hugh
Adair, whose funeral service was
held last Friday.
Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Walper,
Elizabeth and Douglas and Mrs.
Walper's sister, Mrs. Jack
Trevi thick, Brinsley attended the
100th anniversary graduation
program in the amphi theatre,
Alma College, St, Thomas, when
Joanne Walper was among the
graduates.
Mrs. Edwin Bailey has been
visiting with her daughter for a
few weeks in Victoria, B.C.
Mr. & Mrs. Earl Nephew,
Woodstock, were recent visitors
with their in-laws, Mr. & Mrs.'
Selbourne English.
Mrs. Beatrice McDonald,'
London, a former resident here,
is a patiefit in St, Joseph's
Hospital, London.
Work is progressing favorably
on the grain and feed mill being
constructed a mile west of here.
One of the six silos to be built has
already been completed, at a
height of 140 ft.
Congratulations are extended to
Mr. & Mrs, Clarence Neil on the
birth of another daughter.
By the way: We overheard one
absent-minded motorist say to
the waitress at the strawberry
supper, as he parked himself at
the table with his sweetie, "Fill
her up!".

Lloyd Miller, read the minutes of
the, May meeting and the
treasurer's report was given by
Mrs. Lorne Elliott. Mrs. John
Templeman presided for the
business when final 'plans were
made for the July meeting when
Elaine Townshend will be guest
speaker and the roll call,

Mrs. Philip James read the
scripture. The study book
chapter, One Billion People—
Struggling to Survive, was read
by Mrs. John Miller. It compared
economic conditions, population
growth, food, etc., in the First,
Second, Third, and Fourth
Worlds. The Gress National
Product of the First World (in-
dustrial democracies, mostly
western) is over $3720. per
capita; of the Second World
(communist states) is $1050; the
Third World (developing coun-
tries) is $784; and the Fourth
World (countries such as
Bangladesh where economic
upheaval has taken place) is $149,
per capita.
The rich world has to lose its
love of more and more material
wealth before it can help the poor
world out of its problems of
survival.

cordion. For her topic, Mrs.

Ailsa Craig pastoral charge to
take over the Dungannon and
Nile churches at the end of this
month. Rev. Charles Scott,
London is to occupy the pulpit for
the summer months.
