His salary will be $18,000. He will replace James McIntosh of RR 3, Seaforth, who resigned this spring after serving the township for 16 years. His salary is $10,500 and his wife assists him. Mr. McLachlan, a native of Tuckersmith, is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert McLachlan of RR 3 Kippen. He is a graduate of Seaforth District High School and is married to the former Mary Helen Buchanan of Walton. They have a two-year old daughter, Sherri Ann. After graduation from high school he joined the Toronto- Dominion Bank in Seaforth and was transferred to Thornbury, Sarnia, LaSalle, Bracebridge and Sudbury. 'He returned to Bracebridge as treasurer in 1972. He is a certified general ac- countant. Mr. McLachlan attended the Tuckersmith council meeting Tuesday as an observer. He told the press in answer to a question, that he has rented a house on a farm on the fourth concession of Tuckersmith near the home of his parents. superintendents this summer it was learned at the board session in Dublin Monday night, The decision for elimination was made in committee-of-the-whole May 16. This will leave the board with the positions of a director of education, one academic superintendent and one superintendent of business. The board is presently discussing the hiring of a director of education to replace John Vintar who resigned April 25. Mr. Vintar has been with the board since it was fdrmed in 1969. Mr. Vintar will take a position as superintendent of schools with the Dufferin-Peel Roman Catholic Separate School Board. The two academic superin- tendents with the board now are Joseph Mills, Superintendent of special services and William Eckert, superintendent of program. Jack Lane is the superin- tendent of business and finance. The board will hold a 'special meeting in committee-of-the- whole in camera Wedndsday night to discuss the re- organization of the ad- ministration staff and to finalize the details of advertising 'for a director, such as the salary to offer. The board has advertised in the Huron-Perth system for a new director but to date no application has been received. Ron Gladding, Stratford., co- ordinator of the Family Life Committee presented the Grade 8 Family Life revised curriculum. He was invited to speak at 9 p.m. but was kept waiting along with the press representative until 9:50 p.m. while the board met in committee of the whole having started at 8 p.m. Mr. Gladding said his initial preparation of a basic curriculum, with input from administration, was made to a committee of teachers and the religion consultants who made a number of changes, additions and deletions. Then it was taken to a committee of parents who represented the two counties. They made more changes. Then it was presented to the priests of the deanery who also made changes and gave their moral support of the curriculum. The board tabled the report for the next meeting to give themselves time to study it before giving final approval. The following teachers were hired, commencing duties September 1, Corey E. Smith, kindergarten teacher at St. Joseph's School, Clinton; Anne Riegling, kindergarten and Maithel Wilson, Grade 8 teacher, both from St. Joseph's School. Kingbridge; Janet Albert, grades 3-4, St. Joseph's, Stratford; Sheila Jankowski, Grade 1, Our Lady of Mount Carmel; Kathleen McMillan, oral French teacher at St. Boniface, Zurich, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Precious Blood at Exeter and St. James, Seaforth; Gwen Hugil, grades 1-2, St. Columban; Nancy McKeon, Grades 3-4, Sacred Heart, Wingham; Majorie Graham, music 30 per cent, St. Michael's, Stratford; John Stapleton, Grades 5-6, St. Patrick's School, Dublin. Joseph Blyth, Precious Blood School Exeter will be allowed absence from teaching for one year, without pay. The Seaforth Lions Club was given permission to use the board owned playing field as a parking lot during' the summer carnival July 22 to 24. It is located at the corner of Goderich Street East and Coleman Street in Seaforth. Tuckersmith hires clerk Ausable-Bayfield Conservation Authority board accepted three area projects at the annual full Authority meeting Friday. Purchase of theElliott property on the south-west side of the Highway 4 bridge in Exeter, will cost the authority approximately $750 according to resource manager Don Pearson. The Authority will purchase the property under agreement with the Town of Exeter with the Town responsible for Maintenance of the property. Installation of "gobimat" erosion control along the Exeter dam spillway was also accepted by the board. The new erosion control system will allow flood water to over-flow the dam without scouring the dam slopes.' The Authority also accepted a realignment and slope protection project for Pergel Gully, one mile south of St. Joseph. Hay Town-' ship requested the Authority to undertake an engineering study tualleviate inthe gully and the Ministry of Natural Resources recommended realignment and slope protection for a total cost of $64,000. The Ministry of Natural Resources provides 75 per cent of. the total cost of each project through grants with ' the benefitting municipality paying 90 per cent of the remaining cost, The Conservation Authority pays the remaining ten per cent. The Authority board passed the project recommendations following a day-long tour of the Ausable-Bayfield Conservation area. Carmel 237-3456 mom mew ema Last year we purchased a set of LE-CRUESET cookware from a large London department store, but one of the pots has started flaking and the cast iron is showing through, but when I returned it to the store, they told me that they no longer carry this line, and that t should make my complaint to the manufacturer since it was well 'over the 30 days that this store allows for the return of merchandise. The problem is, they couldn't or wouldn't give me the address of the manufacturer. We did get some booklets when we bought this set, but they have disappeared. Well, my complaint is very similar and I hope you might be able to help me too. More than 5 months hove elapsed since a taxi driver back- ed his cab into my car at a large shopping centre. The damage was slight and the cab driver admitted he was, "new on the job," but he promised to report the accident to his employer. After several weeks of waiting and hearing nothing I phoned his boss who requested estimates which I sent. I'm still awaiting a settlement, can IMPACT help, please? My own efforts were completely useless as the only information they would tell me was, that if didn't pay money owing I would be dealing with a collection agency. Shortly after I wrote you, the unwanted tapes stopped arriv- ing, and now in my mail today I received a statement showing my balance to be nil, This letter then, is to say that I'm most appreciative of your ef- forts on my behalf, and I thank you for getting this mess cleared up, and Columbia House finally off my back. Petrolia will become the eighth member of the Continental Senior 'A' Hockey League this fall, the executive members of the league decided Monday night following a short closed-door meeting. Petrolia enters the league after winning its second Ontario Intermediate 'C' Championshipin three years this past winter, The league will split into two divisions for the 1977-78 season to alleviate travel difficultie§ resulting from Petrolia's ad- mission. The East Division will consist of Preston, Stratford Woodstock and Durham while the West Division will include London, Port Stanley, Lucan-Ilderton and Petrolia. Each team will play eight games against the three teams in its division and four against the four teams in the other division for a 40-game schedule. The top three teams in each division will meet in the play-offs. However, the team with the most points overall can pick its first round playoff opponent for a seven game series and a bye to the league final. Petrolia told the Continental hockey meeting that it expects to have a budget of $28,000 this year and will be sponsored by Fin- negan's Hotel, The average age of the team is 24 years most players are Junior `B' calibre or better and the team experts to sign all the players from last year's team which it considered to be of Senior 'A' calibre, said team president Ira Downer. Most of Petrolia's home games will be played on Saturday night or Sunday afternoon to help the other teams which would otherwise face travel problems. Petrolia is the 11th member of the Continental league which is now heading into its sixth season. .
