WOMEN
The largest turnout for a goodly
number of years flocked to Huron
Park last Sunday to registar at
the annual convention of the
Ontario Association for Coun-
selling and Attendance Services
which was hosted this year by
Huron County Board of
Education.
The four day event kicked off
Sunday evening with a wine and
cheese reception co-hosted by the
Board of Education for the City of
London. Sam Munroe, Vice-
Chairman of the board and Bruce
Georgeff, superintendent,
brought greetings from the
London Board of Education.
Mrs. Marion Zinn, vice-
chairman of the Huron County
Board, Donald Young, Atten-
dance Counsellor and Bruce
Shaw, Mayor of the Town of
Exeter welcomed all in at-
tendance and introduced the
Conference Chairman, Wally
Freel, from the Etobicoke Board,
Monday, Dr. Benjamin
Schlesinger from the Faculty of
Social Work in Toronto was the
key note speaker and delivered a
very impressive message on such
subjects as "Children and
Families Through the Looking
Glass" and "Sexuality in the
Student."
Barbecue
best ever
; "The most 'licbessful ever'"
was the verdict on the annual
chicken barbecue on the lawn of
Trivitt Memorial Church Exeter
on Wednesday. Over 200 pies, 600
chicken halves and hundreds of
pounds of delicious potato and
cabbage salads disappeared like
snow on a summer day.
Being the day previous to the
Ontario election, both the Con-
servative and Liberal candidates
were present with their families,
and many good wishes were
expressed to each. Altogether a
good time was had by all.
Apologies are due to the few
who had to be turned away after
all the tickets were sold, Next
year make sure to buy your
tickets in advance.
Many thanks to all who sup-
ported the barbecue and to all
who worked so hard to make it a
success.

on behalf of Tom Wells, Minister.

Dearing followed by a barbeque
around a cosy fireplace.

co-hosted by the Town of Exeter
and was attended by the mem-
bers of town council.

procedures task force which
was established last year to
identify strategies for improving
regular attendance and to
enquire into the development of
an improved system of at-
tendance recording in the
elementary and secondary
schools in Ontario.
This force stemmed from the
involvement of students which
ended in tragedy as a result of
shootings in schools in the
Brampton and Ottawa areas a
couple of years ago. Details of
this report cannot be released
until a final presentation is made
