Quiet week for policemen Grand Bend and Pinery detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police reported a quiet week. Grand Bend detachment reported 58 charges under the Highway Traffic Act, 23 Liquor Licence Act charges, four Criminal Code charges, and one charge under the Narcotic Control Act. Mrs. Ron Fletcher and Mrs, Howard Pym gave a report on the District Annual which had been held in Grand Bend recently. , The quilters had a display of some of the articles which they had made since the quilting course. The Young People held their annual campout on the weekend at the Pinery Provincial Park. Several front, the community attended Thames .Road Anniversary Sunday. Quite a number from the community attended a shower for Mrs. Bob Johns at the Exeter Legion Monday evening. Margaret received many gifts to help her, Bob and the family after losing everything in a fire Friday evening. The Explorers girls from Thames Road-Elimville visited the pioneer village at Kitchener on Saturday. Visitors Sunday with Mr. & Mrs, Ross Skinner and family were Mr. & Mrs. Jake Hovius and Crystal of Wyoming and Miss Joan Kerslake. They celebrated a number of birthdays being in June. Mr. & Mrs. Floyd Cooper, Joan and Doug, Margaret Pym and Donnie Parsons attended a campout at Thamesford on the weekend with some of the Exeter Ausable Nomads. Mr. & Mrs. Norman Jaques visited Sunday evening with Mr. Fords win soccer tilt The Exeter Fords won their third straight game, Saturday, defeating St. Marys 3-2 in soccer action, John Mickle scored two goals in the first half and then Phil DeHaan notched one in the last half to put the Fords up by three and they held on to squeak out the one-goal margin. Excellent defensive work by Doug Willard and Wayne Smith was instrumental in the victory, which kept the Fords unbeaten in their starts to date. Their next game is Saturday at the Canners field at 11:00 a.m., and fans are invited out to see this top quality soccer action. Close contests feature bowling Bill Rogerson was top bowler Saturday night with two wins and an aggregate of 22 followed by Anna Ballantyne with an aggregate of 18, Placing third and fourth respectively were Mabel Skinner and Ross Richardson with aggregates of 18 and 16. On Tuesday night Mabel McKnight and Wes Watson tied for top spot with two wins and aggregate of 34 followed by Gertrude Hamilton and Nelson Squire who also tied with aggregates of 22, Olive Harvey and Elizabeth Lan'iport were the other two game winners with aggregates of 21 and 19 respec- tively. Becker, The M.Y.F„ Mennonite Youth Fellowship group, of Zurich have a project in this area of a small acreage of potatoes. They met Friday evening to hoe their crop. After the work session, they gathered at the home of Mr, & Mrs. Dick Zielman for lunch and refreshments. Recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs, Arnold Keller, on the occasion of Mrs, Keller's birthday were her grandson and wife, Mr. &,Mrs Stuart Keller, and great gran- daughter, Sarah of Stratford. Susie Zielman who has been attending high school in Leamington for this past year has returned home for the summer. THOMAS HERN Zion West United Church held their Sunday School Anniversary Sunday with Rev. Don Deas, Mitchell, as guest minister assisted by Rev. John Beaton. His Sermon topic was "Come to the Party", Mrs. Lorne Hern, organist and Miss Nancy Hern as pianist accompanied the choir and church anthems, Misses Brenda and Charlotte Miller played a piano duet.
