Four well-known charitable
organizations were supported by
the students of the North Mid-
dlesex District High School in
Parkhill as the result of a
Rollathon.
The Rollathon, held at the
Parkhill Arena, raised over $1400
on behalf of charity. Seventy-five
students took part in the event -
which began about 9 a.m. and
lasted through until 7 p.m, the
same day.
"Only about ten dropped out
before the finish", reported Lisa
Mollard, stuent Public
Relations Officer for the student
body and one of the chief
organizers of the event, "It was
fun. Although many of us ended
up with blisters, we felt it was for
a good cause".
This was the second con-
secutive year the Rollathon was
held. Last year's proceeds
totalled approximately $1200 and
was donated entirely to the

A PICNIC IN THE PARK
The Sunday School pupils and
their teachers of the United
Church spent a very pleasant
time in the Park Sunday mor-
ning, where they took part in
games and relay races, topped
off with treats of ice-cream, pop
and potatoe chips donated by
Sunday School Superintendent
Jim Bakker. This gesture was
greatly appreciated. The nursery
children were also taken to the
Park.
Rev, Elwood Morden was in
charge of the United Church
Sunday morning worship, and
took his sermon from Samuel
11:2-5 and entitled it "A Helpful
Servant of God".

tallies and Philip Clank recorded
the other. Robbie Black was in

DeGraw scored both goals for
Lucan.
In exhibition play this week,
the Lucan mosquito squad scored
a 3-1 win over Nairn, while the

David as a helpful servant Of
God. David made his greatest
contribution in his life, not in the
victories of his armies, but by
proving that the "Hand is
mightier than the Sword".
When he wrote the Psalms,
said Rev, Morden, our
reputations were part of the
result:of what we do. If we do our
work well, then we are serving
God.
This inspirational message was
printed in the Church bulletin
and I thought it was worth
sharing, The best cure for worry,
depression and brooding, is to ge
deliberately forth and try to lift,
with one's sympathy, the gloom
of somebody else.
At the St. Thomas Anglican
Church, Rev, Mary Mills con-
ducted the 9:30 a.m. service on
Sunday and conferred the
Sacrament of Baptism on Gary
Edward, son of Mr. & Mrs,
Kenneth Hoar, and Melanie
Susan, daughter of Mr. & Mrs.
Don Beatson.
In her Meditation, Rev. Mills
talked about Baptism and the
responsibilities of parents to
bring their children up as good
Christians.
