MacLACHLAN City View United Church, Ottawa, was the setting for the wedding on June 4, of Elizabeth Anne (Betty) Park and Donald Stuart Maclachlan Jr., with Rev. Mr. Ibbs Avery officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Marjorie Park of Lucan and the late J. David Park. The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Donald S. MacLachlan. Given in marriage by her brother, Jeffery Park, the bride wore a white lace-trimmed gown, ending in a train. Mrs. Donald Coughlin, sister of the bride, as matron of honour, and the bridesmaids, Mrs. Nancy Park Mayo, Miss Diane MacLachlan and Miss Marilyn White were all gowned alike in pale green gowns. The groom was attended by Peter Hayes and the ushers were Robert Wilson, Terry Triskle and Norman MacLachlan. Following a reception at the Nepean Sportsplex, Ottawa, the couple left on a honeymoon to Lake Placid, New York. They will reside in Ottawa. Go the distance with savings now! Plans were finalized for the celebration of Sr. Citizens' Week June 19 to 25, when the group has been invited to the Lucan Public School for their meeting and a program by the children. All members requiring tran- sportation are to be at the hall at 1:15. A short program of singing and games will follow the brief business meeting, preceding the children's program at 2:30. Lunch will be served by the conveners, at the school, Gordon Hotson, a member of the New Horizons Committee, reported on the progress of the "Drop-in-Centre" being built on the lower floor of the Hall and the need for the group to raise some funds and do some volunteer painting. Several ideas were for- thcoming, one of which will be carried out immediately when a Bake Sale will be held in the club rooms, Saturday, June 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The quilt will be on display and tickets will be sold by Mr. Hotson, Gladys Atkinson provided a very humorous "Letter to my Cousin" type of reading which was given by Maude Hodgins. President Merna O'Neil extended birthday greetings to Ethel Crouch, who, expects to return to her secretarial duties with the club June 23rd. High Bridge prize was won by Ivan Stanley and low by Gladys Six accidents were investigated by the Lucan detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police last week. Constable Jim Craig in- vestigated a three-car accident Sunday, June 5, on Highway 7 near the Denfield Road. Cars driven by Greta Chase, St. Atkinson. Euchre prizes were won as follows: High Lady's, Rose Atkinson, Lone Hands, Kathleen Neil, Low Lady's, Ann Kish; High Man's, Marjorie Steeper, playing a man's card, Lone Hands, Frank McIlhargey, Low Man's, Lon Phillips. While there was no craft class three members of the Busy Buddies worked on Club Blocks for another quilt for next year. Lunch was served by Elnora and Lewis Raycraft, and Reta and Cecil Robb. Thomas, Robert Cornish, RR 1, Lucan, and Ivan Goodall, St. Thomas, received a total estimated damage of $5550. Another three car collision occurred June 7 at 7:45 p.m. Vehicles driven by Dawn Farr, RR 3, Granton, Shawn Robb, London, and Robert Young, RR 1, Thorndale, collided on Highway 4 near Arva. Constable Craig estimated damage at $2000. Constable D. R. Vance in- vestigated a collision at the in- tersection of county roads 16 and 20, June 9 at 3:15 p.m. Vehicles driven by Morris Peckham, London, and Victor Hughes, RR 3, Denfield received a total estimated damage of $500. A car driven by David Toon- ders, RR 1, Lucan, collided with a fertilizer sprayer boom owned by Paul Toohey, RR 3, 'Lucan, Friday, The accident occurred on the Biddulph Township Gravel Road and total estimated damage was $500. Constable Craig investigated a one-vehicle' accident Friday on Highway 7 near Lucan. A •truck operated by Robert Kenn, RR:1, Aylmer, left Highway 7 and received a total estimated damage of $4550. A collision between vehicles operated by Elwood Hustler, St. Marys, and William Cassidy, London, occurred Saturday at the intersection of Highway Avenue and Concession 11 near Lucan. Constable J. A. Wilson estimated the total damage at $5525. Church has guest cleric The Guest Minister at Lucan United Church on Sunday was Rev. L.E. Graham of London who spoke from Luke 7:1-10 regarding "Faith". Jesus was surprised to see such faith, particularly in one not of the Jewish beliefs. Mr. Graham asked "How many people have problems and do not take them to Jesus?" He said: "Jesus will give us answers in our everyday life when we really believe and listen for His answer, even though it may not be what we expect or even what we. want." He advised us to read our Bibles and model our lives on His Life. The choir, under the direction of Ray Koopman, sang, in. `cannon'style "Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow", Rev. Addie Aylestock was a guest in the congregation Sunday morning and was welcomed by Mr, Graham, Her mother, Mrs. Wm, Aylestock is in reasonably good health and is living with a daughter in Toronto. Sunday, June 19,, Rev. Harold Snell, Exeter, will be Guest Minister for the 115th Anniver- sary Service at 11:15:June 20 will be "clean-up" day in the Church Kitchen and the Manse. All women of the Church are invited to share in this project - many hands make light work. A few hours of your time, particularly in the forenoon would be ap- preciated Thurgday, June 23, the Prayer and Share Fellowship (in- terdenominational) will meet at 9:45 a.m. and the Evening Unit will have their "Evening Out", leaving the Church at 5 p.m. Please note the date change from regular meeting night. Next Sunday all members and adherents are asked to sign up on the "work schedule's for the United Church food booth at the Fair. Add your name to the list and check the time slots you wish to work. Wyatt of London, bride to be of Peter Revington, eldest son of Mr. & Mrs, Lyle Revington of RR 2, Lucan, was honoured with a bridal shower at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Sheridan Revington. The bride was assisted in the opening of gifts by Brett Revington, Julie Lewis and her sister Michelle. Elaine and Janice Campbell, Anne, Carla and Diane Revington and Marlene Marshall assisted in receiving guests at the luncheon. The bride thanked the guests and hostess for making her shower a happy occasion and expressed good wishes to them to be present and help celebrate their wedding at the Holiday Inn, Wellington Road, London, July 9. A BIG NIGHT The Lucan Lions will be staging a Monte Carlo night Friday at the Lucan Legion. An elimination draw will be held with the final ticket winning a seven day trip for ,two to Bahamas or $850 in cash, Activities will take place in the Legion and in a tent on the grounds. All proceeds will go to the fund raising campaign of the Lucan Community Centre.
