The June meeting of Caven
Presbyterian Church Women was
held in the Church schoolroom on
Monday,
President Mrs. Margaret
Strang presided and the
devotions were given by Mrs.
Tom Pryde. Awareness of our
fellow human beings, the han-
dicapped was the theme.
Guest speaker, Miss Elaine
Townsend, spoke regarding the
Problems encountered by the
handicapped, Miss Townshend
Mentioned specifically that the
new arena in -town is being built
to accommodate the han-
dicapped, something most
members were not aware of, but
prodd to know. Miss Townsend
is a member of Alpha "Adult
League of Physical Handicapped
Adults".
During lunch Mrs. Sally Laing
thanked the guest and presented
'.. her with a small gift,

The last monthly meeting of
Exeter Senior Citizens for the
summer was held in the Legion
Hall last Tuesday with over 70
members and visitors present.
An hour was spent in card
playing before starting the
program convened by Mr. & Mrs.
Kenneth Johns,
Morley Hall sang two very
lovely sacred numbers ac-
companied by Mrs. Finkbeiner.
Kenneth Johns sang two solos
accompanied by Mrs. Dougall
and Mrs. Gilbert Johns gave two
humorous readings.
Then Mr. & Mrs. Lavender
entertained by showing some of
their lovely pictures of Scotland,
Wales and England. Mrs.
Lavender acted as commentator.
The views of lovely gardens,
old buildings and hills were
beautiful.
Discussions were then held by
the president Mrs. Rundle
regarding the week of visits to
Huronview at Clinton June 20 to
26, Different senior citizens
groups visit during that week
putting on several numbers of
program, visiting with the
members of the home and having
either dinner or supper with them
provided by the home.
The program will be at 2:30
p.m. each day and Exeter's day
is the 22nd.
One moment of silence was
held for one of the faithful
members Mrs. Ruth Johnston
who passed away since the last
meeting. Other business, such as
picnic and bus trips was also
discussed with committees being
appointed to look after these.' he
Lions Club are taking a bus load
on a trip.
The ladies of Huroridale
Institute served lunch. The nest
meeting will be held first Sept. 6
for the fall programm.

Association held its 32nd Annual
Conference in Montreal from
June 9 to June 15. Theme of the
whole Conference was
"Increasing Library
Awareness",
For the first time, small
libraries had a "voice". The
Regional Libraries Section held a
workshop and panel discussion on
various aspects of com-
munication in the small, local
library,
Topic under discussion was:
"Do you read me? ... 10-4!"
Speakers were: a library
trustee from Eastern Canada; a

The preliminary juvenile
contest was held at South Perth
Centennial School, before a large
and appreciative audience. Mrs.
Irla Stewart•of Goderich was the
adjudicator and Gerald Paul the
master of ceremonies.
The sixteen numbers chosen by
Mrs. Stewart will appear at the
annual Kirkton Garden Party on
July 20. At this event, cash prizes
will be awarded to the winners in
each of the three classes; vocal,
instrumental and specialty.

a nephew from Niagara Falls and

his brother's funeral, Randall
McElrea at Iron Bridge,
