Don Zavitz, a resident of Clan- Lan Apartments, died suddenly Saturday, June 4 in Strathroy Hospital following a heart attack. Tickets are still available for the pork barbecue and barn dance "Ham it up with Charlie" featuring Charlie Farquharson at the Seaforth Community Centre this Saturday. Supper starts at 7:30 p.m. and includes barbecued pork chops with all the trim- mings. Charlie, Canada's favourite country cousin, will deliver an after-dinner address with his rollicking views of "jog- free", "History", politics and the arts. Following dinner will be a country barn dance featuring Chris Black and the Swinging Brass playing music with a country pop flavour as well as old-time fiddling and square dancing. Ron Gethke, a well known local auctioneer will take over the show three times during the evening to auction off an opportunity of a lifetime - a Prepare quilt at Elimville By KATHY COOPER ELIMVILLE Thursday evening a number el women met at the Elimville hall to cut out pieces for a quilt which is to be raffled at a later date. Several from the community walked in the walkathon in support of the Exeter arena. Mr. and Mrs. James Sinclair, London, visited Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Routly. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Morley visited Monday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Cooper. Mrs. Howard Pym, Joan and Elaine, Mrs. Ross Skinner and Barbara, Mrs. Jake Hovius and Crystal, Mrs. Ron Parsons and Vickie and Mrs. Floyd Cooper, Nancy and Joan attended a shower Sunday afternoon at Mrs. Elwyn Kerslakes and girls. The shower was in honour of Melanie Veal prior to her marriage to Barry Miller in July. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Routly at- tended the Brock reunion at Riverview park, Exeter, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Fulton visited last week with Mrs. Fulton's parents Mr. and Mrs, Reuben Pehlke of Monkton and also her brother Edgar Pehlke of Watford, England, Mr. Edgar Pehlke is spending several days this week with the Fultons. The Thames Rd. Elimville Young Peoples held their annual meeting at the home of Ester Wilson. They had a guest speaker from Brazil, who is on an ex- change. He showed slides and talked on Brazil. Their annual campout will be held this weekend at the Pinery Provincial Park. The funeral took place Monday, from, Denning Bros, Funeral Home, Strathroy, with Interment in Poplar Hill Cemetery, Pat and Jean Hodgins joined a bus tour Tuesday to Toronto with the Granton Womens Institute where they visited the new Eaton Centre, Ontario Place and the C.N. Tower. dance with Charlie Farquharson! All proceeds from the evening's festivities go to the Blyth Centre for the Arts to raise funds for their 1977 summer season of plays at Blyth Memorial Hall. Mr. Farquharson, one of the stars of television's "Hee-Haw" and a famous Canadian author and broadcaster holds a special place in the hearts of country and city folk alike, He is a character created by Don Harron, Canadian actor, playwright, and author of international repute who has co-starred with such famous stage personalities as Sir Alec Guinness, Katherine Hepburn, George C. Scott and Tyrone Power. Mr. Harron has generously donated his time to appear at the dinner dance for the Blyth theatre group. Tickets for the event are available at Country Flowers, Exeter. The $15 admission price includes a $10 donation to the Blyth Centre for the Arts, and a tax receipt for that amount will be issued to anyone requesting it. A large crowd is expected for the event and the public is urged to dress - straw hats, boots, overalls and jeans are en- couraged, but not mandatory, For last-minute revellers, some tickets will be available at the door. By MRS. HEBER DAVIS The ladies of St. Patricks Church sponsored a plastic ware demonstration in the Parish Hall, Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Simpson and children and Mrs. Vera McFalls were Sunday dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Ross McFalls also attended. Mr. and. Mrs. Larry Greenlee were Saturday evening guests with Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Carroll and girls. Mr. and Mrs. Heber Davis attended the Sunday School anniversary service at Centralia United Church Sunday morning and were dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Tindall and family. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tindall, London were also dinner guests. The ladies of St, Pa tricks Church quilted Monday at the home of Mrs. Earl Greenlee, Mrs. Laurence Hirtzel, Centralia assisted the ladies. Mr. and Mrs. Heber Davis were supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Kooy Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Carroll, Ian and Brenda and Robin Quinton attended a soccer game in St. Thomas recently. 4-H Homemaking Clubs held their Achievement Day Satur- day, June 4, at Parkhill. The three Clandeboye Clubs had 17 members complete the project "Consider Your Clothes". Marie Cunningham received her Provincial Honours, com- pletion of twelve projects, and Marian DeWeerd and Elaine Cunningham received County Honours, completion of six projects. Mr. Jack Gilmour, Janet and Carol were hosts for a picnic Sunday, the occasion being Tom Gilmour's birthday, There were 67 attended including Mr. and Mrs. Tom Gilmour, all their family and grandchildren, several neighbours and friends. Mrs. Bill Gilmour of Fort Erie and several of her family also Mr. and Mrs. Jack Winn of Bay City, Michigan were in at- tendance. Mrs. Edith Pratley, Montreal visited Friday with her brother Alan and Ruth Hill and Saturday, all attended the wedding of their nephew, Owen Gidley of Bryanston, at Robinson United Church, London.
